The images were taken from a bus parked next to the site of the collision and show victim Dale O’Malley, 28, being struck by the car, flying through the air and lying in the road.
His family took the decision to release the images in the hope they would prompt the driver to come forward, police said.
Mr O’Malley was crossing the road near to the McDonald’s restaurant on Wellington Road South in Stockport, Greater Manchester, at about 11.05pm on Sunday May 1. A silver/grey five-door Peugeot 206 struck him and drove off in the direction of Hazel Grove.

Something doesn't feel right...

1. Vehicle headlights seem bright (illegal xenons?)

2. I see a passenger in the rear of the car (typical boy racer with a car full?)

3. The tail lamps don't look like stanrd 206 lamps. More of the aftermarket chavtastic type like these...

I could be wrong, but that's what it looks like...

I hate this with these things. Yeah the guy may have a chaved up car but what does that have to do with an accident? Illegal xenons? Surely that would help when it comes to a pedestrian crossing a road. That road also looks like a barriered dual carriageway that pedestrians shouldnt be on anyway.

Not that the Guy should have run away. I hope that he does hand his self in, not to be thrown the book at but to get the punishment deserving to the circumstance of the incident.

@Stu: I think the point that Nacht was trying to make about the car being modified is that it should (assuming it is indeed modified) make it easier to find. Bound to be shops in the area or street CCTV that at least got a look at at this person's number plate?!

Edit: Also looks like there is someone stood at the bus stop on the other side of the road so with the passenger in the car (looks like someone wearing red?) there were at least 2 witnesses.

Ahh right yeah. I would be changing back to standard if i didnt want to get caught. I dont think they are xenons though. I think its a very light sensitive camera.

barriered dual carriageway

Stu, are you looking at the same photos as the rest of us?

The photos of a high street, 2 opposing bus lay-bys or lanes and not a barrier in sight??

"unconscious in intensive care after major brain surgery and operations to pin a broken leg and arm"

"his condition remains critical"

Chav or no Chav, he left the seen of a serious accident. I hope the person responsible has the book stuffed down his/her irresponsible throat!!

It looks to me as if the highstreet has 2 lanes for each direction and it looks like the partitioning barrier is in the far right of the image.
Suggesting that the lad may have been a pissed reveller messing around in a part of the road he should have never been.

After googling McDonalds address near the accident, this looks like the place where it happened.

Did a bit of research and it looks like the car swerved to avoid him but hit him on the left front. Notice in first picture the car is more or less in the proper lane, but in picture where he's flung in the air the car is practically driving on the wrong side of the road.

Supposition...

Then why didn't the driver stop, O’Malley crossed the lane the bus was in and half the lane the speeding chav driver(;)) was in before he was run over.

It was almost midnight on a Sunday, the place would have been deserted. How the hell does a driver not see someone crossing one and half lanes infront of them??

Speeding?
Drunk?
On drugs?
Blind?

What ever his/her excuse they should not have left the scene of such a serious accident.

Surely if [you] know the frame rate the bus camera records at, and [you] know the distance the car travelled between each frame (by the road markings etc) then surely [you] can calculate the speed?

That doesn't help find the driver, sure, but it would give some clue as to why they didn't stop.

I would guess that they were just coming back from the pub or something.

Very sad to hear, nonetheless.
