I went to buy some new scales in Tesco earlier - tried the demo model out and they brought me in at 71kg.

Bought the new boxed ones, but when I got home, they are showing me as 74.1kg.

Ok - so something odd there, if we accept the first ones as correct (I don't think I can be up to 74 yet...), then it means the new ones are over reading.

However, I weigh one of my speakers (which is 9.5kg) and it shows on the scales as 8.1kg!!!!

What's going on? How can there be this much difference?

But if I just want to know if I'm going up or down in weight, does it actually matter - ie - will my current one just always be Xkg out, or is it more a percentage thing?

Dave^^ understandable but 2lbs is just under 1kg. 0.9071kg to 3SF. also wouldnt explain the speaker weighing less than stated weight.

has it been calibrated? the one we have requires zeroing when first used or changing the battery.

or maybe gravity is having an off day??

Still suspicious though.....

I guess my next question is - if I want to be 100% sure of my weight, what is the best type of scales to use. I could stand on the suitcase conveyor at the airport next week :chin: - but I'd really like to know now!

I was going to suggest using the ones you sometimes see in supermarkets or in Boots etc - the ones you have to pay to use. However, I once tried the one in our local Tesco which also measures your height and BMI, and it reckoned I was 5'12" ffs :bang:

And this morning is says 72.7kg...

That i would say is still within tolerance limits. like i said +2lbs is 0.9kg. you naturally lose weight in your sleep. unless you sleep eat...

i would say that weigh yourself at points of the day. 5 or 6 times. and compare the weights. if say there are all within +/- 1.5kgs then they are working (y)
