Kinda misleading wording there "It was then swallowed up by the hole, which was 10ft wide and 8ft long." - but actually just the front fell in.
Laugh of the day has to go to this sentence though "His father, also called Chris and aged 54, rushed from the family home in Kingswood after being alerted to the accident and was hurt when he fell into the hole trying to release the stranded truck."

what did he expect to do with his hands to a big ol pick up truck falling in a hole full of water also by that point hadn't both people escaped from the truck :nutter:

I hope the goverment pays them for a new truck to be honest!
we pay road tax for them to maintain the roads, and i'd be dammed if they didnt either replace or repair the truck!!

your council tax is used to maintain the roads........ Motorways and some A roads are maintained by the Highways agency
your VED goes straight into government funds to pay for their holidays and second homes
road tax aslo know as "road fund liscense" so all the funds should in theroy go on the road. in practice though not a lot of it does
