I'm after some advice / opinons on what you would do in this situation.

Some of you might know I was a Special for a few months, due to the way I was treated, I left, I was given two options, either resign and come back later, or be dismissed. The reasons where.

I said I didn't like using the phone - jokey comment to another officer
My handwriting was untidy in my pocket notebook - It was a little bit, but it was still readable
I asked how to spell Salisbury - Can't really explain this one lol.
I didn't say what I needed to do in my folder to get signed off as independent until near the end of the shift - Fair enough, but was with someone who wasn't really pro-active and spent most her time going round friends for tea and coffee.

I went to a meeting with what I thought was my welfare officer to talk things though, but he was told I was going to see him to resign. Which wasn't true. I only found this out on Tuesday. Month or so after I resigned.

I wrote a letter of complaint about the way I had been treated, saying I didn't felt it was fair, being picked up on stupid things, it got passed onto an Inspector, who came round to see me on Tuesday, and basically said they had no reason to dismiss me, no evidence to show that I wasn't able to do the job.

He said that if I wanted to, I could go back, would be able to join a different station and division, and get a fresh start as such.

Now, this is where I need some advice.

I've been thinking about joining the Army, started loosing some weight to start my application, and generally like the idea of a few things in the Army, been looking at the Mil Police and maybe something to do with Diving (scuba).

I'm not sure what I want to do, part of me wants to go back to being a Special, as I really enjoyed it, but part of me doesn't want to, due to the way I was treated.

If you where me, what would you do?

I'd say 'both' at this moment, unless I have the wrong end of the stick.

I would like to think that your service as a Special would count for you in terms of your army application.

I would expect the army application to last a wee while before acceptance, so doing the Special work while going through selection would stand you in good stead with the selction process.

Cheers

D

"Specials" are I guess part time roles which many do in addition to their normal jobs. I don't think you can have a fulltime career as a "Special".

Arm is fulltime career for as long as you have signed up for.

Whilst your army application is going through then an additional stint as a special can only do good.

Before deciding you might like to find out from your army careers office how long the whole process takes.

Not sure how long the Army process takes, they seem to always be recruiting though, unlike the Police.

Yep, part time and volunteers, it is possible to do the Specials full time, but not something I would want to do at the moment, plus I can't afford to.

suppose you could give the specials 3(?) months ot see if it works this time?
if not jump to the Army
cant really do it the other way around

This is what I was thinking, doing it for a few months, see if I still enjoy it, and I guess I can still apply to the Army at the same time.

Just emailed the Inspector asking to withdraw my resignation :D, going to give it another go, mainly because I don't want the 'what if'.

Also going to apply to be a team leader at Tescos...might help me with a few things! And more money :D.
