if you click on the fiat forum link or something similar, it registers them as read. Sometimes it takes a while for them to clear (have the same problem)

I think its just caused by how you flick backwards and fowards between threads. Sometimes it clears if you navigate using the links, but if you use back in the browser it doesn't (understandibly)
Mine are cancelling following a forced refresh but if you or your ISP are caching the page then it won't if you're just using the 'back' button. If there's an option to drop the document cache in IE then do that, won't make much difference with a fast line .
I don't use active posts partly because this happens to me - some threads
I've read stay on the list for ages afterwards. And mozilla does just the same.
I think people are misunderstanding me, it's not the normal no cancel problem sometimes faced when going back with no refresh, no thread i've read for 3 hours is cancelled.
