Does anyone else think this is stupid?....

My school is literally clamping down on students who park in the "teachers" parking area, they are threatening to clamp students who park there now as apparently the teachers aren't getting spaces to park!

There is a student car park, with enough room to fit 12 cars but we counted 46 students drive to school. They have "designed" a parking over flow for students on the school field where all the kids play at break and dinner time. A friend of mine has just had her wing mirror literally snapped off from her 08 plate 106 by parking there the other day.

Me and a friend today parked in the "teachers car park" as we care about our cars! Only me and him had to balls to park there but I don't quite understand it as the area isn't dedicated for teachers. However all of this remains on the school ground so I take it they can clamp who ever they want to?

There is no space to park outside of school as it is all double yellow lines either.

What are peoples opinions?

park where you are meant to,teachers are there for work and as such parking spaces are a perk of their job
46 of you decide to drive, your choice and in the grown up world you need to have parking at your journey end
if you cant adhere to it i guess they will ban all student parking, then what?

So if you were our age and had £10000's worth of car you would go with the flow and park on the grass allowing your wing mirrors to be ripped off? I doubt it

if i was in the situation that i might not get parked when going somewhere you mean?
well that never happens to people does it?
the staff have a car park so they can park, you seem to think that because theres no parking elsewhere they shouldnt bring their cars in?

No I meant if you were our age, a student and not a teacher at the school

wut?

No, I never said that. I am thinking the whole splitting the car park into teachers non teachers is silly. We are entitled to a parking space as much as the teachers are. Fact
(y)

why are you entitled to a space?
BTW adding fact doesnt make something a fact
if i am going somewhere i cant be sure i will get a space then i weigh up the options regarding parking elsewhere, getting the bus etc
seems you have that i am entitled to everything attitude
better watch those teachers hands for dumbbells

I am pretty sure I said "we are entitled to a space as much as teachers are". The latter bit was quite important (y)

And I have no idea what the last two lines meant at all.

teachers are there to teach, contractually obliged to attend
the parking is part of their job perk.why should they have to make alternate arrangements for the kids to save them a bit of hassle
what does your contract say?
if you dont understand those last two lines then i suggest paying more attention in class than on the car park

Ahh no I get it now. It would read perfect sense if you stuck some quotation marks in there buddy! I read it as:
seems you have that i am entitled to everything attitude
not
seems you have that "I am entitled to everything" attitude. :')

No. TBH I'd probably park on the road? That a viable idea

now now,thats crazy talk
we have students who are entitled to spaces here
what happens when they go to a job where only senior staff get a parking space?
just rock up and park as entitled

i have worked in many jobs where there was little/no parking
so you need to leave time to cover parking further away and walking
in Glasgow it was park, get the tube then walk to the job

Nooo! They may not be able to do anything, but the police can bring charges of criminal damage and theft against you.

If however you could remove it without damaging it, and then leave it at the scene, you will not have committed an offence.

With regards to the OP, I agree with the others that teachers should have their spaces, this is common sense. Although, I have not seen you argue they should not.

If you know the only space that will be available to you will be in the overflow, don't take your car, simple!

If the teacher's car park is never full, and there are available spaces, then park in the available bays. If there are no signs stating you will be ticketed or clamped then they cannot do so. Even if there were signs to that effect, they cannot enforce them, but that's for another debate.

Tom

Cheers for that venomco.

I didn't know they weren't allowed to clamp without having a notice! That could come in handy if this situation arrises as there are no signs what so ever.

My friend uploaded the photo to facebook of her damage. Pic is at the top of the thread

What?! No not at all. You just said if I couldn't understand it then I should spend more time in class but you were in the wrong!

Anyway that is irrelevent.

And MEP, the school has those "school do not park" and double yellow lines along the road side for quite a distance

define 'quite a distance'
5 minutes walk,15,30?
i often walk to my boys nursery than take the car as its a PITA for parking in the tiny car park
parking outside of it is limited
thats a 40 minute walk each way

why not park at the premier inn?
