Hi all,
Just had some complete nutter try and run me off the road on my way home from work. He followed me in his astra gsi all the way through Maidstone Town centre flashing his lights and virtually velcroed to my bumper. When we reached a dual carriageway I floored my hgt and left him way behind.
After that I didn't give it a second thought & slowed down again, driving at 55mph when I see him coming alongside me. He gives me a good eyeball I wave to him the next thing he accellerates pulls in front of me and slams his brakes on. The only thing that saved me was no traffic in the outside lane although wing mirror just clipped his rear quarter.
After that I was gone he tried to follow but couldn't keep up.
I was shatting myself.
Don't know what I did to upset him except pull away from him but if thats how people are going to react when they can't beat you I'm giving up the driving and become a passenger!!
What an eventful end to the day!!!

yea people can be ******s like that...
its always better to travel with a passenger... get up close.. and scrape down the side of their car with something sharp... i have 2 screwdrivers in my car within easy grasp.
or throw a rock or marble at their windscreen... should shatter it well... possibly make them crash with the current weather conditions.

there really are some pricks on the road. times like that when u need to be driving something you dont care about. then u can whack them off the road

Personally, I carry a baseball bat steering lock and have a notoriously short fuse. Anyone who gives me road-rage ends up regretting it :devil:

put your wheel brace in the door pocket and if u get stopped u forgot to put it away when u changed the wheel or as jonny said use your steering wheel lock most people s**t themselves if u stop anyway they just try to scare u

This is the opposite of advice I would have given a few years back, but whenever some right arse starts trying it on in a non-jokey manner I just go the other way, turn off, let them overtake then stick the brakes on myself - anything to get out of the way.

Yes, it's the coward's way and sounds girly in the pub, we all want to stop and puree the other driver from time to time, but I have a 5 yr old to look after.

I had an incident about a year ago where someone pulling in virtually pushed me onto the grass where two lanes become one. I slammed on the brakes, horn and lights and this was enough to make the gibbon stop his car in the middle of the road so nobody could pass, then he and his mate both got out. With knuckles trailing along the ground, they proceeded to recite Roger Mellie's profanosaurus and thump the bonnet. All I did was sit and smile sweetly until they lumbered back into their mum's Rover and drove away.

There's absolutely no point in reporting anything like this to the police as they either can't or can't be arsed to do anything about it, I'm not sure which. Only if they see it and aren't otherwise engaged will they intervene. Even then, they'd probably ticket the wrong bloke.

If I can't turn off, I either hang back or outrun if possible.

if they stupid enough to get out the car, they also most probably stupid enough to be carrying something, or be able to handle themselves

Is your HGT seriously modified? or was the Astra a lesser model kitted up to look like a Gsi, do you think? You would not be getting away from a MK2 GSi with a Punto HGT !!

What an idiot Corsaman was, don't understand why some people try to injure themselves and others by driving like this . Hope you are OK

A friend of mine has been done like this by a Merc driver. He says the merc came in front of him and braked (but no brake lights came up, so maybe hand brake?) and has seriously damaged the front of his car!......luckily it was a renault ( )

Well I said it tongue in cheek, as far as believing in it, I'm open minded, but the principle behind the idea is sound. i.e. Be passive and calm and it is likely to influence the other person to some extent.
