Classic, one of the best war films ever.

One of the best lines in a film IMO:

German officer walks up bridge under a white flag to the over-run British side:
"We would like to offer terms of surrender"
"Am very sorry old chap but we simply haven't the facilities to take YOUR surrender"
*confused German*

:D

my mum bought me a cool DVD box set for crimbo. has got that in, the great escape and the battle of britain. top collection. think she got it in wollies.

my fave film of that genre has to be dambusters, closely followed by The Longest Day and then Memphis Belle.

All good films!

Random fact: The guy who wrote the Dambusters theme tune (IIRC Eric Coates) was the best friend of my great Grandfather on my mum's side.

I just infact checked it out and it is true, I have my Great Grandfather's autobiography here (it's only 60 pages but somehow somebody published it, he was a "normal" person, no idea why!) and it says so. Eric Coates was a Hucknall (Nottingham) lad. It's amazing when you think about it, Hucknall, one of the worst areas in Nottingham has made so many amazing people, D H Lawrence and Eric Coates just to start with!

It says here that Eric Coates was his best man(?) no idea if it is true but he does say they went on the train into Nottingham together for 20 years.

Why am I writing this? lol
