Nobody else is talking to me right now so I thought i would write down my thoughts here (as usual lol).

Firstly the Irish bank robbery - the police faced near riots whilst searching houses to try to find the 22m of money stolen. Insane.

Royal Mail workers walked out today at 12:30 - did TC? lol. I saw a post office today and it was seriously full, apparently social security is the biggest cause of that, like everywhere on the high street it's a busy day today. So what did the workers do? CLosed up at 12:30 instead of 4 as it's tradition?! Madness.

Londer Underground strike - one of the lines (i think?) was closed today as people stiked following the demotion of a driver who ran 4 (yes 4!) red lights on the underground. If a colleague of mine red 4 red lights risking 100s of lives I would be kicking him out myself!

Ahh

Don't worry I'll talk to ya (Bless)

Yep saw your comment bout the post office and (I really don't like trains beit under ground over ground "wombling free" hate busses

and hearing that bout the red light jumper - kinda scares me into thinking I never wanna use em again !!

do you know which line it was ! and if the driver was Santa ?? thinking it was rudolf's red nose in front, or maybe he wos on PCP and really did think he was santa.

he hee :D

Roo ;)

Well I just looked on the news and they say a strike over pay and conditions has been called off? Did I dream that it was on the news about the guy going through 4 red lights?! lol - I think it's unbelievable anybody would do that unless they were either asleep or dead.

Maybe he did get confused between Rudolph and traffic lights? You never know.

no offence but isnt a rant normally something thats getting on your nerves and to do with you most of the time? never (ever) heard of anyone ranting about stuff thats on/in the news?

although has to be said its disgusting (n)

I thought rant was a word when you just put down anything that was annoying you? Despite not affecting me directly, attitude like that **** me off. In the same way that we were overtaken yesterday by a A4 cabriolet that thought it was allowed because he drove a nice car to go in a turn left only lane at which point he nearly forced us off the road. I wanted to use one of those crook locks on his windscreen but instead thought it best if i didn't.

Yep! It would be because of the Giro's everyone got yesterday for their "blown up cookers" and "soiled bed clothes" that will have caused the Post Offices to be packed to breaking point. Not like they use that money for anything but drink usually! lol!

Well the news regularly annoys me too Paulie! OK the postal workers thing looks bad on the face of it, but we don't know how it was put to them. If they were told maybe just last week or something then I can understand their frustration. If it has been made clear to them for some time then tough crap, it's not a bank holiday, it's a normal working day. The post office workers (specifically) work stupidly short hours as it is - only half day on a saturday (especially in the run up to Xmas when people were trying to send presents) and never on a sunday. Pathetic and outdated

Also annoying me in the news today were the police who caught a drunk geezer in a woman's house in the middle of the night, forgot to arrest him and gave him a lift home to sleep it off! I'm sure more annoying things will spring to mind ;).

Crazy!

I think the postal workers were told months in advance when they put through all the changes (TC will probably tell me i am wrong and stupid lol) - as you say, within reason you work the hours you are asked to and also as you say, it's not like POs working outs bare any resemblance to the real world.

Once I rushed to the post office trying to collect something (actually before my Oxford Interview) - pulled up at 12:02 ran in in a hurry (post office within a shop) and it was closed, asked the person stocking shelves - who is the PO worker also he just laughed and said it wasn't open again until 1:30. That's crazy! 1) Where's the service in that? 2) Closing for lunch?!

Paul................................

I think you've missed the point, the Royal Mail has shut early on Good Friday and Christmas Eve for the last 357 years, to change it in one swoop is unacceptable, you have to consult with the staff and Unions!

Remember, Royal Mail is the last of the Union empowered employers, our working practises are still very 70s and as a manager it really pisses you off, everything has to be done through the Union, otherwise you'll have 222,000 staff at the gates!

Re: Paul................................

I don't think it's unacceptable, it's called 'welcome to the 20th century', never mind the century we're in now! Unacceptable is lazily swanning off leaving your team mates to pick up the pieces.

Helz................................

very harsh words from you and Paul, work in the industry first before you make comments. My comments aren't opinions, they are facts that I quote from working for this company!

PS. Helz, it's the 21st Century!

Just because something is a tradition it doesn't mean that it still works now. Also i thought they would need to introduce it all at once, taking off an hour each year would just be silly.

Re: Paul................................

357 years or 2 years, it's anchaic (spl?) and stupid! If you work for a company you should work the hours asked for if that's your "contract". It was hardly a surprise it had to happen at some point, it should have happened 15 years ago. It's a service that a lot of people need, it's not like we're asking for POs to even open on a sunday! Also, I am sure it was decided months ago?

You confuse me anyway, which side are you on? lol

The fact is, if RM wants to survive (which I want them to do) they have to be flexible - that includes the workforce!

Please..........................

do not start about Royal Mail, it is a prehistoric giant trying to survive in the 21st Century, the sooner it is privatised and introduced into the 'real world' the better!

Re: Paul................................

You can't quote for the company, you would get into trouble! lol

I think Helz was trying to say "welcome to the 20th century working practises, bet you can't wait until you catch up with the 21st century" :)

Today these workers left their managers to run the post offices on their own.
