nursery abuse case shocked

Hearing that 2 women and and a man have admitted to these crimes.
I am deeply shocked and bemused. How depraved can humans be?
Surely this must be a 1 off?

Quite. Presumably the woman in the nursery was CRB checked etc.? It just shows how useful they are.

CRB isn't exactly infalliable, Ian Huntley managed to get around it and he isn't the only one

CRB checks are very flawed, it only checks if you've been caught before, and although is valid for a year...is only really valid for the day its issued (like a MOT)

Not really shocked. Not to lessen the impact of what's obviously a very bad situation but people fiddling with kids is hardly a once in a generation event. The ease of communications these days brings people together, good and bad. What shocks me about this is that we don't see it happen more often.

Let's get his right -
So you are not shocked that it has happened, but you are shocked that it doesn't happen more often ?
Right.
Now I really am worried.
This is a female nursery nurse filming herself abusing babies and transmitting the images to like-mined pervs.
And you are shocked it doesn't happen more often !!!
Thank goodness we don't all think alike .

It does seem a lot worse that its a women...was speaking to my mum about it, and we both agreed.

3 years.
I have quite a collection of CRBs, one for rugby club, one for scouts and a few for work - one for working with vulnerable children and one for working with vulnerable adults.
I also have one for the Salvation Army (as part of their safe & sound campaign) because I sometimes help by transporting Sunday School kids.
The SA is the only one who insist I attend their annual update course as well as reapply for CRB each time, everyone else leaves it 3 years.
All the CRB does is tell you that a person hasn't been charged - in the Scouts we had a bloke come along to help, he was asked to fill out a CRB - no problem, it came back clear.
The following week he was in court charged with hundreds of indecent images on his computer.
This was Easter, the previous September, the police siezed his computer as part of a nationwide operation and found the images.
How did he get a clear CRB? Although his computer had been siezed so he would be in the system, departments didn't communicate so because he hadn't been charged...

I cried when I heard that vile story on the news the other night. To make things worse, the judge 'urged' her to say which kids she'd abused - WTF?
Chuck her in a bare cell with nothing but a flea-ridden mattress & a scratchy blanket.
Feed har the bare minimum (1 bowl of rice or gruel per day) & make sure she knows this is it for the rest of her life - unless she tells.

If this was an MP's daughter or a Judge's daughter you can bet your next wage that the law would quickly change.
And banning mobiles won't help - never heard of a pencam?

Re: nursery abuse case shocked

Aye its all really quite nasty to say the least. I'm certainly not going to explain this situation away, but it looks like, reading between the lines, the nursery worker has became involved with a guy online & are playing a sick game. In her mind she is doing nothing wrong, it looks like she is playing this sick game of taking pictures to impress the guy. More to it than that but that seems to be the nuts & bolts of it. My wife is a lecturer in youth studies & childcare, & she says its not that uncommon for females to abuse kids.

A frightening thought indeed. It would seem this is not a new thing either, women going back in history have been a busing kids one way or another, well, that's according to my wife who is an expert on such matters. Part of her job used to involve checking up on places all over the highlands, & she constantly came across all sorts of things, I think I will leave it at that.

When they catch these people as they do from time to time there is usually a ton of pictures, videos, chat room logs etc found on their PC. If at any given moment there are hundreds of thousands of these pictures out there it seems unlikely to me that only 3 people are involved.

And no, I'm not really shocked that it happened. Some people are just evil. That's nothing new. History is full of evil people.

If we come over all daily mail reactionary and won't-someone-please-think-of-the-children about it we're not really achieving much. If we put aside the shock horror argument then we're left with logic. And logically these three could be a good start at finding more monsters. If you're willing to share this sort of thing with a couple of random people you met on facebook, chances are you've got links to a few more people doing this. Logically, that seems worth investigating. Wringing my hands about the evil seems pointless by comparison. It's happened. They'll be punished and the healing for those involved is a private affair.
