Another 'show plate' question

I wouldnt worry about it. Ive been running 'show plates' for 9 months now ie, legal font spacing, sizing etc with a black border and nothing else and not had a problem with them. Its only when ANPR cant read it or they do you for something else that they may pick up on it.

Right. Show plates, aka the plates on sites like demonplates.com etc.

Assuming I get a set with legal font, spacing and reflecting etc. I assume the only thing that makes them illegal is the lack of the manufactures post code is it

Jon.

I would be incredibly surprised if you got stopped for not having the postcode.

As long as the font, spacing etc is as it should be, like you said you will be fine.

ANPR will read it and only the saddest bobby would give you a ticket for not having the postcode on it.

Depends on the copper. Most would probably just give you a rectification notice as its not like you are trying to make them look different to what they actually are.

Ok. Ta. But being really perdantic (sp?) what the worst that could happen? It's not endorsable is it (endorsable means getting points doesn't it ).

Tis illegal but again unlikely they will do ya for it.
:yeahthat:

ive been driving with plates with apple addict as my slogan for the past 6months and the coppers round here are reall strict on plates and i havent been pulled once or even had any attention of the plod or vosa for that matter

Ta.

And the punishment if done?

It just a rectify sheet thingy? Or points

rectification notice, or £30 fine iirc

Ta Carl (y)

Wouldn't it just be easier to make sure they are legal?

Yes, but I'm a slight rebbel, and don't mind bending silly rules. I mean its not as though my plates are going to be mis-spaced or anything as I've spent the dolla to get my plates to say what I want them to without the need to illegally space them.

But I'd like the finishing touch of a slogan.

Ive heard of people getting 3 points but this has been for mis spaced plates with the wrong font.

Ta (y)

Defo in't going to be mis-spacing, so should be ok then :)

The worst you will get is a non endorsable fixed penalty notice, although as has been said you would probably be given a VDRS if anything.

As of 01/07/09 the non endorsables changed, its now £60 for number plates and seatbelt offences rather than £30 for the other non endorsable offences.

The offence wording is 'numberplate failing to comply with regulations' so although you can be given one for anything which isnt right on a plate as long as the main bits are fine then i would like to think most coppers wouldnt be pedantic enough to issue an FPN.

Ta for that.

I heard something about it going from £30 to £60 but didn't know it had already happened  :p
