My journey to work each morning has reached the point where it's uncommon to see a generic number plate on any car.

Are personalised plates still "cool"? Now that everyone has one, I think what's the point:confused:

Vote.

Never been keen on them tbh. Number plates should be discreet imo rather than drawing attention - mainly cos they look crap whether personalised or generic

cool, but if you have to radically alter it, adding bits of tape, use the fixing bolt heads and changing the font to get something like a decent plate message, then you are a loser....actually you are a cheap loser, get some money, buy a decent plate loser......

I think they're an interesting thing. Can always work out what sort of a person the car owner is by their cherished plate.

like the wifes name :D

it very much depends what the personalised plate says

if its like a nickname for the car, or teh sort of car, then its cool (i quite fancied c7 nto for teh cinq)

if its a random word like to55 ers, then the driver should be dragged out and shot imo

Yea, got in there quick buying that when the 'F' prefix came out! :p

We've a cherished plate on sisters mk3 Panda. Only one that came on one of the classic Panda's we had that we've since sold, a NI ageless plate which I like the look of.

Also got one going onto the Stilo soon. A 6 figure Suffix 'F' reg off of dad's stolen Beetle that he had years ago. I've discovered that as we've still the logbook were intitled to the rights of the plate. So am going to place it on the Stilo. Will cover it's age nicly :)

I'm not one who tends to have personalised plate on our cars, just cherished ones :p

I have a private plate. Yes I agree it's poncy having one, but I like it

At the end of the day its entirely up to the individual, well obviously......:D

I Look at this way. If you have a PP its a look at me & my plate[ & car] so it doesn't take much to work out you re basically a show off, like it or not.

OK not a big deal, but if your the type to show off in the car as well, you re easily recognised by the plate:rolleyes:

Lastly if its an expensive plate, I think the money couldve been more wisely spent on a better car or toys for the existing one;)

I would not have one, but there are worse things you can spend your well earned on......:D

They are all compensation for erm... a lacking in other departments.

I particularly like the ones where they have to stick screws all over the place and use weird characters to try and make it look like something. Even then you often need to squint to work it out.

Viz magazine top tip: It's cheaper to change your name to match your plate than to buy a plate with your name on - Mr V472KGM.

:yeahthat:

I remember a car park incident once between myself and a stupid cow in a Red Jag X-type. Won't go into details but she had this massive grin on her face (look at me in my Jag, it's abvously more important than your Fiat) until I said,

'Thats a nice cherished plate isn't it! Makes the car stick out lots, I do hope none of my mates in my car ever recognise it parked around Norwich as I can only be responsible for my own actions!'

OMG her :) soon turned to a  :ROFLMAO:

I just got into the car and drove off after that, it was all that I needed to say
