Filthy Buggers!

I'm talking about washing the car!

Which do you prefer? A Drive-Thru auto at the garage, or a Handwash from one of the many places that seem to be popping up all over the place?

Personally, i favour the ones at the garage although they sometimes miss bits. better than taking it to somewhere that looks like it's run by ex-cons, it made me nervous the last time i went to one of those handwash places when the guy wasing the car was having a good look inside it:confused:

But then there's the best of the lot, the Buy-Time jetwashes! Where you select what part of the wash you want and carry on without it beeping at you halfway thru scrubbing to find you're 30 seconds into the rinse program! It's a top idea because you control what you want and can give the car a bloody good rinse off until the money runs out :)

So, What's it to be? :D

im not a fan of the automatic ones, after losing several areials, and one hubcap! tho i end up using them, as A= theres one near me, B=the handwash one is a "valet" one. which is expensive and C= im lazy :p

I'm of the old school, bucket and sponge outside the house, or if its really filthy, at work, again with bucket and sponge. Occasionally after a very muddy event I'll borrow a pressure washer for underneath the rally car.

So I suppose that means I prefer a handjob from myself. Sounds like a load of **** to be honest!!

Cheers

D

myself out in the cold outside the house with a bucket and sponge :D

i'd never, ever, take my baby through the car wash, i would maybe take it to one of those places that washes it by hand, but i think i'd rather do it myself :) (plus lack of cash means its done by me :D)

I used to only clean my car when I wanted to sell it. For some reason, I seem to going out with a bucket, sponge and a large piece of stockinette on a regular basis, since I've owned a Fiat. Very unlike me.

I give mine a handjob (just a little one) then pay to have it done at a drive thru  :D

Seriously tho Just give it a quick once over yourself on the parts where you know the auto wash is crap you know the front left/right wing behind the front tyres where you know It's going to be dirty, and the boot. Then go for the cheapest auto wash (its too quid near me) and when you get home, use wonder wheels on your alloys, great stuff. wash off the water using a garden hose, and rinse the whole of the car off. Finally, for that ace shiny look, wipe all water off the car using a chamois. Im using autoglym synthetic chamois and it does the job nicely.

You can then wax it and top coat if your'e feeling like it, I never can be arsed in this weather lol

Its gotta be the HANDJOB every single time, soapy water in a bucket and a sponge washed by my own fair hands, I'd NEVER take Mr Cinq through one of those roller car wash's I don't trust them one bit.

Also being a typical tight arse I don't belive in spending money on the preasure washers you get at some garages when you can do just as good a job, (even if it does take a little longer) with a bucket and sponge. Also neither of those garage type car wash's does your door inner door or boot sills and if you miss them your only doing half a job.

Hand washed by yourself is always better than any other way.
Plus those companies that say best handjob in town etc, could have dropped their sponges on the floor, and then be rubbing grit into your paint :( not nice.

I do it by hand, not that I don't trust the machines, I'm just a cheapskate and enjoy spending quality time making my car shine. Although I took it outta the garage all shiny yesterday and a run down the M621 to Birstall and back soon spoilt all that:(

when i'm home a good amount of bubbles, a selection of sponges and then various window cleany things (rainx) not forgetting the wheel cleaner.

when i'm in stafford and the chiis looking a lil dirrty, she gets drizzled in hot wax and then a bit of lovin with a sponge at one of them jet washy places

handjobs by other people.. its great. i go for the better handjobs though and it costs me £5 each time though!

Though now its winter time, many places are disappearing. There's only one now near me.

never have used the auto machines.. However... there's a place near Asda near SportCity (the ManCity stadium) that uses TurtleWax only products.. its just miles out of my way to clean the car. Not sure if its an auto one and i don't think its the Ocean brand of car wash auto places (formally IMO - remember that name?)

Still.. my car's still being valeted amongst other things... its been a month and i should get it back tomorrow or wednesday.. which is good, cuz its needs an MOT before next monday. Speaking of which... is it valid until the end of that day?

Prefer the handjob myself but jetwash is good if your in a hurry or the weather looks non-favourable.

Work of the devil is the automatic spoiler remover.

My Panda loves a good handjob, Im sure it smiles as I do it! My 126 hasnt been washed since at least 1999... cos it hardly goes out, and when it does it has to be dry so it only gets a rub down and polish now and then... what am I saying? Im off to bed...

I prefer to wash car myself, and avoid all those other places!

However, I do use a Karcher pressure washer - a quick rinse first, then add some wash n wax to the detergent bottle, then clean with the rotary brush. Followed by a high pressure spray down - easy :) - the only downer is I usually do both cars at once.
