Crack!

I've had it strike just feet away, my hair stood up on end.

Was about 10 and my brother and I were playing Ninendo 64 around our friends just a couple of doors up. It started thundering and all being kids sh*t ourself, the lad grabbed his dog and just as I opened the door the biggest bolt I ever seen hit the ground in front of us. We screamed and ran into my house :D

Another time we were at school think I was about 15 and there was a big thunderstorm I swear to god there was an almight bolt that lit everything up. It transpired this bolt hit several areas of the town which wasnt even that big. One hit a house next to a supermarket which sent the tills flying open (the house had to be regutted it blew the roof off ). Another bolt hit near the school as it cut the phones off and a final one hit a mental health building near where I lived. What a storm.

Hence why I am not the biggest fan of them. I hide

Next door was struck about 8 years ago never heard such a big bang...

for some reason it set out smoke alarms off, left the house phone ringing constantly, and the TV i was watching changed channel...

next door needed re roofing it had gone down the aluminum flue lining and had blown the back boiler about a foot out of the wall.

the chimney stack ended up on our driveway.

the entire house needed rewiring the lightning had blown loads of plaster off the walls in its search for earth exposing metal corner beads as it arced between the metal socket/ light switch patresses and the corner bead all in all it did about £30K worth of damage all we got was one broken slate.. (luckily)

This house luckily everyone was downstairs because they would have been killed otherwise thats how much damage was done. I walked past there not long after it happened it was just breathtaking

we round at the neighbors house within 30 seconds to a minute of it happening literally sprinted bare foot with the fire extinguisher i grabbed as i went out the kitchen door, their whole house stunk of burning plastic and insulation but fortunately no fire....

got the gas off very quickly once we saw it had damaged the boiler and fire along with the mains electric (needn't had bothered it had blown teh 100a electric board fuse)

rung the fire service who checked the roof space and made it safe by removing all the loose tiles and debris

Fortunately the chimney stack blew apart and the roof was strong enough to allow it to roll down rather than go through.....

there was bits of rubble and chimney pot scattered in a 40 meter+ radius ....

some old dear had come off her bike as she rode past too not hit by anything probably more shock...

And then....

The thunder from the last strike we just had shook the building. That was some genuine scary stuff. Hailstones the size of grapes. My car is the only one visible from the windows.... poor bravo getting beat up by the elements :(

Or sink :ROFLMAO:

This was middle of last month in Watton, Norfolk (I think, or might be Suffolk:confused:).
