i always reverse my car in to my garage on a night so i desided to stick a nice big bit of carpet, yes carpet to my garage wall, the idea is to fit it so when you open your door it dont swing open an hit the brick wall it hits the carpet(witch wont sratch my car)has anybody else done this or am i strange...?an if your copying the idea dont just start cutting holes in the living room carpet, you might get in to trouble,:D

I've heard of people putting rubber strips down the side of their doors or on the garage walls, and also rubber railing along the edge of the walls but carpet is certainly a new one. :p
If it works then why not?!

No, not weird. Unless the majority of people I know who love their car are weird! My boyfriend has carpet up in his garage that his dad put up years ago. Kept his driver door perfect. Shame about the passenger one.....

My sister in law used to do that. Worked a treat until she bought a new car. :bang:

:nutter: :ROFLMAO: Must admit we have a tennis ball on a string in the side my dad puts his car......

i'll admit to moving it back 2 feet so the back of the car stook out when he tried to put it away cue lots of head scratching

for the door protection we stuck that pipe insulation on the wall and to protect the front wing (it really is tight) we have a 2" lump of polystyrene

tennis ball and carpet are both familiar practices at dibber towers too.
mirror hanging down from roof also, for when reversing in and judging gap between bench / bumper.
however, punto has not been moved for over 2 years now....
< must get arse in gear to restore car >

Did no one ever tell you ... drive into the little space, & reverse out into the big space.

The only guy in the road to back-into-his-drive near me - is the skip-hire driver when he gets home in his Passat.

(Old tyre at back of garage & length of hose pipe screwed horizontal to walls)

Some people aren't lucky enough to have driveways big enough to turn round in. As its illegal to reverse onto an A class road, anyone living on an A class must reverse in.

Cheers

My father has a length of foam rubber pipe insulation on one side, round a pipe, oddly enough and a piece of Axminster on the other. We, on the other hand aren't posh enough for a garridge. Mrs. Beard has managed to put a 2' scratch on both sides of her car and one side of mine. She's finally worked out how to get a car off the drive without using the latch on the gate as a guide.
