Do I pay to scrap a car?

Depending what it is, how badly damaged/rotten/broken it is and what parts are still attached, you may well find somebody will buy it off you for spares. Owners' forums and ebay are a good place to start.

It it's just a battered and rusty shell that'll never see road again, scrap merchants (not car breakers) should give you some £££ for the scrap metal, but if you want them to collect they might charge more than it's worth in scrap.

I have never paid to scrap a car, look in your yellow pages for car dismantlers and ring a few asking what they would pay, usually very similar but sometimes you can get lucky and get more than the others.

Im not sure what the price of scrap is like at the moment though, but you should certainly never have to pay.

trying to sell it be difficult, so deciding to scrap it

too late, i trying my luck on ebay

I was going to suggest eBay :p.

Any concolation. Brought 1993 Clio (few mates) to rag, for £50, weighed it in the next day (the state it was in was something else!) and got £56 for it :ROFLMAO:

Thought you might be interested in knowing she is still going strong, owned her for a year now, completed 20,000 miles in the last year with no issues and excellent mpg.

She's had rear wheel bearings, shocks and springs in the last 12 months and a replacement self adjuster to sort out the braking issues at the rear:D
