With the new F1 season on its way, thought a F1 thread would be a good idea, I'm aware that there is a F1 thread below, but thats more to do with a rule dissuasion, not the season in general.

Been watching the practice on BBC One with the red button, and from what I've seen so far, it looks like Hamilton might not be world champion for a second year running. Button looks very strong in the Bruan car.

Thoughts on this season?

hmm same...ferrari seem a little off to but the diffuser seems to be making a difference if im honest if you look at the top cars....but whatever..the brawn gp cars look good i must say

Boohoo lewis wont win :( C'mon button :D

It would be great for Button to win, although also would be great if Hamilton won as well, wouldn't mind seeing Vettel up near the top as well.

whos staying up to watch qually?

im cheering on Kubica this season, seeing as my cinq is Polish built ;), hows that for a tenuous link :D

I am, got my Red Bull ready hehe.

Remember that the clocks go forward though, I was getting rather confused with it all lol.

A date has been set for the FIA International Court of Appeal hearing over the diffusers on the Brawn GP, Toyota and Williams cars. It will take place in Paris on April 14 in the week prior to round three of the championship, the Chinese Grand Prix.

Brawn GP confirmed on Saturday that the team has agreed a partnership agreement with Sir Richard Branson and the Virgin Group on the team's debut race weekend at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.

Hamilton can get stuffed. He only has fans because button was in a crap car (which has now been proven) and the british were desperate for a winner to support. You watch as they all stop supporting him and start moving over to Brawn GP!!

Anyone who has been groomed from a young age by a big team would be as good as Hamilton so I personally have no time for him.

Button FTW!!!!! :D (and if not then come on Massa!!!)

Say no more :D

Come on Jenson !!

I realise this is only for fun (I hope) as you clearly don't undertsand the complexities of F1. Why do you think they groomed Hamilton from an early age? Because he was already a natural talent.
If you took a great footballer (Gerrard / Lampard / Rooney ) etc.but then said - "sorry mate, due to a technical problem your boots for next season are more like hiking boots than football boots, but we're doing our best to improve them".
Do you think they would perform just as well in hiking boots?
Obviously not, but that doesn't mean they have become a bad footballer overnight does it ?
Same in F1.

Glad to see Button up there over Hamilton tbh. Much better driver than Hamilton and Hamilton was helped massively by having the best car on the grid last year. If you had put button in the ferrari or a merc then imo Button would of been ahead of Hamilton no questions.

On what basis do you come to that opinion?
I have followed f1 for 40+ years, and I am as excited as a 5 year old on Christmas Eve because I think the Brawn phenomenon is just what F1 needed.
But last year I was just as pleased when Lewis did well because it is one thing to have the equipment, but it still needs to be used effectively under massive pressure of expectation. And what about those wet race performances? He made the whole grid at Silverstone look silly.
Jensen drove some great races when he had a decent car as well, and if he wins the championship this year and Lewis comes nowhere, then that's motor racing.
So how have you arrived at the conclusion that Jensen is much better than Lewis?
I would love to see them both in good cars in the same team. Team England!:)

I dont know how its just my opinion of the matter. I think Button is a better driver and if you put him and Hamilton in equal cars then i think Button would beat him. Hamilton is alot more aggresive, more careless and takes alot more risks compared to Button. Where as Button is not as agressive, he seems to be more composed and when he has a good car can compete with any of the drivers up at the top.

I think i do as i worked for Jaguar F1 and B.A.R.

Yes Lewis has talent, not denying that but in my eyes 1 year as champion in the best car available does not make him the best out there.
Nowhere near as tallented as Senna,Prost,Schmacher or even Mansell

Rober Kubica last year was just as good as Hamilton but didn't have the car to win.
I do believe 70% is the car and only 30% the driver, hopefully this year with the rule changes it will be more driver talent..
