And for for anyone interested in buying Sony Ericsson...

I was actually told by the sales people when going to buy a new phone to avoid this phone for that very reason they are apparently only designed to last 6 months max...info supplied by an SE rep....

:bang:

You PAUG or contract Charlotte. Demand a refund/change of handset make/model.

Contract - for what it's worth

go straight to S/E.
It sounds like your network are sending the handset off to S/E or doing the repairs themselves on the cheep.
You'll have a manufacturers warrenty which lies with S/E NOT with the network supplier.
Get in touch with S/E tell them whats wrong and they should do a proper repair for you or replace the phone.

Still got my K750i, I know its very outdated, however it works seamlessly with my tomtom520, having texts read out to you verbally as you are driving is a godsend. ( I know it will do this with other phones, the k750 does all i need, i.e speak to and text ppl) Some of new phones v.tempting, however a lot of ppl at work with SE (and samsung) newer phones are always having major probs.
Guess im not a phone fashionista lol, the K750 does all I need, and will be keeping it until it packs in

i have a SE P1i which has been great up until a couple of months ago when my back key packed in working. annoying for two reasons, pressing back on the screen can take ages to go back through the menus and stuff u used to get where u were and its the only thing wrong with the phone.

missus bought me a new sony ericson 880i, dropped it in her seicento on the carpet and the screen cracked, only had it in the morning and it broke a few hours later,

kicked off in the store as they refused to replace it ended up having to send it back to 02 and because of all the problems we had with the store and the bitch of a manager 02 replaced the phone with a new nokia 5800 xpress music touch screen thing.

wouldnt buy another one going to argos this time and gonna insure it!

Phones aren't designed to be dropped. The screen breaking could have happened to any phone if dropped. If you mis-handle any electronic goods and they work afterwards then you've been lucky.

With regard to the SE only working on hands free - have you been using any bluetooth headset prior to the issue? If I get out the Bravo too quickly after stopping the phone doesn't disconnect from the blue&me properly and it leaves the phone in a no-mans land. Switch off and back on solves it.

I have a W910i and it's not the best handset I've bought, I've only had it since September 2008. My last was a Samsung D900i, and that sadly died (I'd only had it a year!).
All of my past few phones have been useless, the W910i battery dies every 48 hours, as did my D900i's (and toward the end of its days, the battery would last 12 hours max!).

I also used to have a Sharp GX15, basic, but super battery life, and had all the necessary features of calling and texting etc. I still have it somewhere... the battery dies really quickly, although the phone itself is still in supreme condition, I am tempted to revert back to it, if I can buy a cheap-ish new battery for it. Although I am no longer with Vodafone (won't take any other network SIM cards, I've tried!) and the SIM is locked since I haven't used it for a few years.

It really does waste my money, these Sony Ericssons and Samsung's. The W910i is better than the D900i in terms of software, but in terms of look, the D900i wins.
I've spent far too much on phones these past couple of years, and it's because they're just rubbish and pack up on me, otherwise I'd expect a good mobile to last at least 3 - 4 years.

I think I had the worst SE of the lot. A W550i, it was a twist phone they only made for a few months then stopped making it due to all the faults. I had 4 in total (1 origional and 3 replacements). My last one went completely, the twist mechanism broke, the pone kept turning itself on and off and the camera stopped working.

I now have an LG Viewty, it gets a lot of stick in reveiws but I personally have no issues with it at all, the camera (5mp) is excellent, the touchscreen is set out perfectly and it is modifiable with certain software ;) And the best bit was it only cost £100 on PAYG (y)

Have to agree very bad quality phones, Nokia is the best, I've never had a problem with mine, dropped it plenty of times and it's never failed on me, had a cup of tea nad beer split on it too! Sony Ericsson, only had to drop it once and the screen went.

Sony Ericssons are, tbh Chav phones in my school
All the chavs who can't afford luxury go for sony erricson because they are cheap and they just get hold of them easily
I though, managed to get N95 on contract first week it was out!
Nokia - Luxury
Nokia N95 - ultimate luxury
I can't think of a phone at the moment that excels the N95, (8GB doesn't count)

I did say the chavs in my school. I wasn't reffering to everyone
The nokia N95 was no where near an awful phone. No where near.
It revolutionised Mobile phones as per the in built Wifi, 5 megapic cam, amazing video quality, ability to install anything onto it. Mine was NEVER ever slow

n95 was indeed a crap phone. Lots of features but crashed all the time. My two SE's have been almost 100% reliable.

K800 and c902.

Before the SE I had a Nokia 3230. It was shocking. Crashed weekly. Had it replaced several times. Different firmwares. Dropped calls all the time.

Mrs had a N95... it also was shocking for crashes.

thank you hellcat :), the c902 is a really good phone, its the best SE out, i have a k850 i had a k800 before that, they are good phones, minus the c905

The C902 is a mobile phone. Above everything it's a great phone. Doesn't crash. Best so far for compatibility with blue&me. I worked with SE support to highlight that a firmware made B&M unusuable and a month or so later they had a revised B&M compatible firmware available.

I don't need a huge screen on my phone. It's big enough for taking photos and video, and no mobile screen is large enough for browsing the web.

Ive always had nokia, from the age of 11 when I had a 3210. However I got a Samsing Omnia as an upgrade phone a few months back in Oct.
I had the n95 and the n80 before this one. The n95 was great, I never had any issues with it apart from sometimes the signal was a bit poop. The n80 froze when sending texts, dropped calls, crashed etc. I hated it! Firmware update sorted it mind! THe reason the 'N' series are sometimes useless is the symbian software used to run them.

The omnia is rubbish. The keyboard is qwerty although you can change it to a normal 'phone' type. I find it gives me headaches trying to text when I am walking. You cant touch text anymore! I like however the fact my texts are saved as a conversation! Which is cool and easy as I always forget what I am saying. The other issue is that the omnia has a 'sleep' function which turns the screen off. Well quite often mine wont wake up! It will vibrate but not turn itself on so you have to remove the battery and then put the battery back in and turn it on!

I've had a C905 for a few months without any problems, had my K800 for 18 months before that without a single issue! I guess I just got lucky with it!

Well my phone came back and guess what.......... It's still broke!! Well, I spoke to Voda and they've said they've replaced it as it's got a different number.

It's going back (for the third time) to be repaired.... They have said I am not entitled to a different phone but have given me a £20 credit

I have no idea what to do. I can't get a new phone, and can't really afford to buy a new one (n) ARGHHHHHH
