i was musing this one with chas the other day, as avid ebay watchers, we've both noticed a marked decline in the number and quality of parts and cars available for unos, both mk1 and 2, from seeing quite a few cars at any one time on the there, to just one at the moment. the last year has been particularly bad.

i was wondering for the others who look for their cars/parts from sort of that time, ie: punto mk1, panda classic, tipo, x1/9, etc, are you noticing anything similair, or is it only us unoistas who face imminent extinction?

Dont know if this counts but ive been looking for an engine for my mrk1 punto diesel and cant seem to get hold of one. managed to find 2 in scrapyards that were miles away from me but both wanted over £400. could buy another car for that.....

plenty of petrol punto's in the scrappy though!

RAC is drawing up plans to drop any cars older than 18 years from membership, or charge an extortionate call out for them

I have:

1991 Uno 70SX (17 years old but being scrapped)
1989 Uno 70SX (19 years old)
1986 Uno 45S (22 years old)
1974 Ford Cortina (34 years old)

So other than the car that I'm gonna scrap all my cars are too old for the RAC. Well b0llox to them then. Plus I haven't used a breakdown service since 1996 even with my old rot boxes. Actually, my Cinq was 11 years old and broke down last year but I got my brother in law to tow me home. So much for the newer car not breaking down then...

As for the parts/ cars for older Fiats, searching for "Uno" on Ebay now comes up with pages of crap like duplicate listings for light bulbs, £400 alloys, wipers and the usual rubbish that you can get from Hellfrauds. Decent used/ new parts and even less tidy cars are becoming a rarity. Mind you, between us me and Jai probably have half the Uno spares left in the country

Much the same problem but I'm always looking for renault dauphine parts - plenty of rubber and badge bits in argentina but that's usually it. It is a 1960 though.

Its not just Fiats, Lancia parts are hard to get for integrale's and they were still being made upto 1994 and were a premium model. This has lead to certain items being sold foe huge amounts, front indicators, over £100 each, headlamps £500 a set, top mounts NLA now manufactured in alloy with spherical bearings etc by Comp Brake. Even one of the water pipes at back of engine block is NLA and which one is it that is prone to going, yes that one, again someone has made an alloy replacement.

Fiat/Lancia/Alfa are pretty poor when it comes to keeping there older cars running, unlike Honda who I believe will remanufacture any part from any car they have ever produced if they receive a minimum of two orders, now that is service.

Unfortunately for a car like the UNO, as numbers are low, and values not very high the chances of items being remade or coming up now 2nd hand will continue to get rarer and rarer as unlike the integrale which is worth more and will continue to increase in value, people are prepared to remake items knowing they will be bought, and not so reluctant to break cars just because they need some work.

i noticed a lack of uno bits, theres a few bits on ebay atm but abit tatty (hormann)
few nice bits where have they all gone?

and Jai you have most of the spares ;)
