Aargh!!! Went over a mountain of a speed bump today at about 5mph and my car just slammed on top of it and it put a crack straight through my exhaust, splitting it in 2.

Any would be lawyers out there able to tell me if I can make a claim against the company that the speed bump was on???

Have u actually lowerd ur car? if u have i wudn't think theres anything u can can do. Try claiming off the council though they pay out if u crack an alloy due to pot holes etc.

Its worth a try mate, say you have had a emissions test and it failed as the catalytic convertors damaged, then get a price for a replacement from Fiat got to be good for £200+

i've got a little further with this, I spoke to the estate manager of the university today and he said that he will try and sort something out, so hopefully that means a payout

He told me to go in the escort van with him to show him where it was, he went over the speed bump and caught his van on it. What a red fave he had[8D] ha ha ha

Its the mid section that has gone, but I am trying to get the whole lot replaced because it seems the owner before did a bodge job on it and made it into a whole system, and the place that he bodged together has gone all rusty and thats where its gone.

The speed bump pushed up on it, i'm lucky the damn thing didn't come through the car. Its got a temporary fix on it at the mo (gun gum), just until I know the outcome

They really are taking the **** with speed bumps now rnd where i live they have tho's 1's which dnt go across the whole road and r made of Rubber, plastic or something.

There's some near us that are like rectangles in the middle of each lane which aren't quite narrow enough to straddle - I swear they don't do much for the suspension! [}[!]

they had themon a new shopping centre that just opened by my house, they where gone in a week and rounded off because people couldn't get over them, there was protests and everything
