i have got some black door trims that i would like to spray yellow to match the car, they are rubber is it possible???

my mums rubber trims have been sprayed and im guessing they where sprayed whilst they was on the car as u can see the black outline on 1 part off it

if it can be done im thinking, a little rub down, maybe something to get the coating off, plastic primer, a few coats off yellow and lots off primer

would this be alrite

cheers

cheers

i really dunno what too do, they are £90 from fiat and i dont want to risk ruining them, but i will give it a go

do u know off anyway off getting the silicon type stuff off them

Doesnt it just peel off? Silicone usually does, but if it's something more like Sikoflex, then a butter knfe will cut thru it...

As for getting the paint off - TCut will get paint off rubber - I had to do it myself on my rear windscreen surround cos I didn't tape the paper down properly when I sprayed my delocked area

i will have a browse round halfrauds to see what they got, i didnt know t-cut gets paint off rubber, i also got paint on the window seal when i did my boot :D

But with it being rubber when it bends and things wont the paint just crack? Or am i being thick
your not being think, but once its on the chances off it flexing and bending are minimal

i just need to think off a way off stiffening it up..ooo err.... in order to spray them and fit them without it bending

Yeah thats what i meant... it doesnt really matter once its on cus its not going to move much (does rubber expand in the heat?)

You'll just have to be really careful with it once its sprayed i think but even moving it slightly would crack the paint. See what happens :)

yeah rubber expands and contracts, my mum hasnt had a problem with hers which are sprayed, but they came like that from the factory

will wait and see, it will be getting done next week, im hoping for a cold day so the rubber will not be as flexi

Cant u buy paint thats flexible (lol)... okay it sounded like a good idea at the time :p

But if you do it on a cold day then once it gets warmer the paint will just crack anyway

Hardest bits going to be getting it onto the car with still paint on it :D

It all depends on how thick you put the paint on though - if you clag it on then it'll set in a big lump, but if you dust it on, then it should give it a bit more flexibility..

Where's the part going exactly Gaz?

haha, u rite bout flexible paint

Flexible Paint Additive
(Only for Spraying Paint!)

We add a special flexible additive (called "flex") to the clearcoat making the paint properly adhere to bumpers, plastic parts, trim, etc. Because bumpers are made of a flexible material, the clearcoat can easily crack and peel off without this additive. You should specify Flexible Bumper paint for all non-metal surfaces including plastic and trim parts. In addition, if you check the box for Flexible Bumper Paint, we will also send you a special rubberized primer. (If you have ordered primer). This additive is only necessary if you are spraying the paint! It is not necessary if you are brushing the clearcoat on. We do not add flex to the actual basecoat.

the part is the door mouldings, my transfers are coming off and as fiat do not do them anymore, these rubber moulding are the only alternative, other than taking the whole transfer off and being left with holes
