they are every where how bad isit near your areas? im in wakefield west yorkshire and they are just every where

we have a big nest at the end of my office building,there awfull we can see them out of the windows,

think il sleep at the office not going out there today
 
there is one week during the year that females fly away to try and start their own colonies.

I was on the roof removing tiles night (my roof, my tiles before you ask) and there were millions of 'em flying about....:mad:

I looked it up on Wikipedia this morning as I was a bit intrigued as to what they were at....

Turns out, there are winged Females (the queens) and Males (the males are very small compared to the females). Upon leaving the nest, they mate in the air and then the queens land, shed their wings and run about looking for a nest site....Sometimes they land a few metres from their original nest, other times it's a lot further.

Pretty cool I thought....Until I realised I was reading about Flying Ants on the internet....:eek:
 
Yup, just had loads of them out in our street when I got back from the beach!

But within the hour all the flying ones are away and only a few of the smaller ones kicking about!

No doubt they'll end up in my garden tomorrow since they are that close!
 
flipping farmers are working on there fields with whatever machines they use... causing all the flys and moths and whatever creatures live thee to head this way now! :eek:
