Sounds like the classic Nigerian 419/ Western Union Money Transfer overpayment scam.

Just look at the way the email was worded in a rather strange form of English. Note how he/ she doesn't even mention the car (Punto), just says:

"I SAW THE ADVERT OF YOUR CAR ON AUTOTRADER.CO.UK WHICH IS FOR SALE.I AM OKAY WITH THE CONDITIONS OF THE CAR AND I AM READY TO BUY FROM YOU."

Kind of gives the game away...

Just write back giving the name, address, postcode and non emergency phone number of your local Police station

ya definatly a scam.

And anyway it would be totally pointless importing a car of that value into Ireland with all the costs you would incur and its not an uncommon car over here!! Must have been a first time scammer!!:nutter:

yeah you are right this is a classic Nigerian-esque con. you can tell by the poor use of the English language (and im a scouser ha LOL!) dont touch it -i usually send it back with a load of choice words...!

It was late....also the p*** poor formatting meant I couldn't be a**sed to read it properly although by the time I had read it again yup...my mind was saying hello nigerian scammers...they should really have read the asking price....giving a 100% holding fee then paying again...idiots

:ROFLMAO: How can someone even think for a second that it's legit? :ROFLMAO:
:yeahthat:

the way it works is really simple. they pay you more than its worth, you give them the change, then their payment bounces and you get nothing. all the money you gave them as change is your money which you've now lost.

tell them you'll do it, get the draft sent, and keep it as a souvenir

You can tell that it is a batch sent message by the fact that it never gives reference to any of the vehicle and your details. They have been clever by trying to reiterate the price but not actually saying it. (Psychology on the poorest level)
