One of the headlights on the marea was cracked when I bought it so I decided to buy a replacement off ebay.

Its come today and I realise that I bought a standard headlight rather than the polythingy type.

Now ive checked and it fits and works fine (except for the side light as its in a different place but will work with a little rewiring) but obviously its a different type of headlight.

Is it an MOT failure to be running different types of lights on either side of the front of the car or is it ok as long as they are both setup correct (eg. levelled correctly and pointing in the right direction) or will they fail due to giving out more light on one side etc?

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks
Chris

I like to watch the MOT in action, years ago they used to put a device in front of the lights to check, not seen one used for years - they just flash the lights!
And that is probably why you get so many cars with dipped lights going off in all directions.

Still, they get your £40-odd

But thats what i mean, mine were bodged (duck tape) and it got through and that was at a rover dealership who were doing an offer on MOT. If they passed that i cant see why it wouldnt. You could always take it to a garage beforehand and get their opinion. But i cant see why it wouldnt be ok going from my experience
