Having crahed my car and being told that there is enough evidence to prosucute me for driving without due care and attension.
I have been forced to take a driver improvement course or risk having points on my licience or at worst banned from driving.

I'm wondering if anybody else on here has been or knows about any schemes like this and what it is like[?][?][?]

Thanks

I did one last year. It's two and a half days of inane drivel. The first part of day one, you sit around some room with a load of others with this guy / woman doing a load of theory stuff. Awareness, preventative measures, how to prevent accidents blah blah, then the second part was driving with three other people who are doing the course with you in one car. Then for day two (half day) you are back in the car. Basically like driving lessons all over again, but the driving instructor then gives matey who's giving the lecture (read bulls**t) a verdict of how you've driven. He then evaluates it, then sends it to the police or whoever to say they are satisfied that there is to be no further action taken. I took that rather than get prosecuted with 3 points and a hefty fine.

Yeah, it's an absolute bag o' s**te. how much do you have to pay? I had to pay £120 last year. As for car sharing, depending on how many people are on the course and how many driving instructors turn up, you may not have to share a car. I shared with a 35 year old who had the jitters, and a 77 year old who nearly wrote the car off. [:(!]

i was stopped once at about 3 am, I was DES so I wasn't drinking, they told me that "wasn't it a bit late for having loud music on"

I didn't even have a radio in my car:p

I got stopped for having front and rear fog lights on once.....

...in the fog! Then the t**t of a police orificer's assistant had the cheek to kick my tyres "to see if the car was roadworthy". how kicking the tyres is going to judge that, i'm not quite sure.

just to round up this thread, having taken the course all day friday and half day saturday I can honestly say it was awful.
I had to share a car with a new driver who crashed his car in october and hasn't driven since, he doesn't see the need for brakes on a bend and doesn't know how to use a speedo.
The other chap was alrite but he was older than all f us so he thought 'why the hell he should be here?'

I know I am not the best driver in the world, but surely they should assess the drivers individually on there own before risking our lives in the car.

I have never chewed on a seat belt so hard in my life before, than what I have in the past day and a half:p
