Thought I'd post it here as it doesn't really fit ICE or security and isn't really car specific as such,

What im looking for is a regulated power supply able to deliver 5Vdc (not sure about the current yet as the unit hasn't arrived)

i have found plenty of the plug into fag lighter adjustable type units
such as this

1.5, 3, 4.5, 6, 7.5 9, and 12 volt supplied at 1500mA Maximum

at a guess i am assuming the unit might work of 4.5v but i want to do it right if i can

its to power a DVR which will be used as a Accident CCTV monitor after seeing what venomco did in his GP with an Archos I have gone for a cheaper option and one that i can fit semi permanently under the drivers seat or back seat

one of these

anyone any ideas please?

Cant see an issue Andy, the recorder needs 5vdc and draws 350mA (0.35A). The voltage regulator will deliver up to 1500mA (1.5A). The CCTV system I installed at home is something similar, it runs on 6vdc despite the specs calling for 5vdc. I always assumed the recorder has its own built-in voltage regulator which protects it from under/over-voltage.
