Is Trump all of those things or was the press and establishment out to get him? The issue is the Trump is a sage. He tells it how it is and being a New York builder, he's not subtle about it. Those who operate the system don't want to be told. So they smear him and twist everything he says.

Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored: Aldous Huxley (y)

I guess due to it being filmed in Northern Ireland, they slap UK plates on without anyone knowing what they're doing. They need to be unissued registrations, so perhaps DVLA have a hand in this, just giving them recent unused, rather than trying to find age-related ones.

The vehicle continuity is terrible in the first episode...

Having noticed the Mondeo they already had my attention, then they are travelling in a convoy. Which initially consists of 2 new model 5 series saloons and 2 Vito vans.

It then randomly changes to a new 5 series and an old bangle era 5 series touring on a 69 plate..then back to the new model saloon. I'd imagine if you were to be actually freeze framing the thing you'd spot stuff like vehicle regs changing mid trip etc it's that bad.

Obviously it's not about the cars..but it it's bad enough to be distracting.

The 'continuity' team are taking social distancing to a new level, just not being there.

I don’t watch it but my wife does so I’ve seen what you’re talking about.

I sways think if they can’t get the basics right then what else are they getting wrong.

One thing that used to wind me up about things like casualty is people just walk out of their job mid shift. Do that in real life and you’d get sacked no matter how many people you happen to save who collapsed in an alley just down the road.

I think it was Mitchell and webb who did a parody of two writers who didn’t know anything about what the they where doing but would just write, whatever, because the Tv company would pay for it.

Several sketches but this is one example

Modern car "journalism", especially the web based kind. Unless I have a clouded memory it never used to be the case that because New car is faster than Old car it means Old car is slow.

A 0-60 time under 9 seconds is still fast!

Small grump but it's annoying me more that it should these days!

I'm sure that it also used to be the case that cars were judged on their virtues, and suitability for the target market, rather than their gimmicks and their badge. I used to subscribe to Top Gear magazine, and it got to the point where you just knew that chances were, anything made by ford or vw would get a glowing review, and any car made by any other mainstream manufacturer would be classed as little better than average.

The Top Gear trio have done a few parodies with car continuity. Hamster's Jags that got gradually younger as they broke down, Clarkson crashes a rally Imprezza and swaps it to a Mondeo. Oh dont worry just sort it "in post".

Topgear under James Hammond and Clarkson was in essence a light entertainment show with cars in it.
It was not about reviewing the latest hatchback from the boring hatchback company, it was about entertaining the viewers, this is why when they did do a “serious review” it was usually a parody of itself, for example the fiesta being chased by ‘baddies’ in a corvette through a shopping centre or a twingo flying off a ferry terminal into the channel. No one watched topgear because they wanted a serious review of the latest offerings from....

Then when they left the beeb wanted to try and turn it into more of a motoring journalism show, that’s why they brought Rory in. If you wanted reviews of boring cars given by a boring presenter then yes I can imagine that you might enjoy those bits of the the show, but clearly most people didn’t enjoy them which is why they got rid of Rory.

They now have three blokes who in my opinion don’t really gel well together and they are now a parody themselves of what original topgear was like. As a result I don’t really find it entertaining, it’s like a Chinese rip off of a European car, it’s sort of similar but no matter what direction you look at it from it’s still all wrong.

The US Car Trek is a "Me too" Top Gear complete with three blokes giving each other inappropriate "gifts" while driving broken cars on road trips. The presenters are far better doing what they do on the own channels.

I didn’t compare car trek, but you make some valid points. To be honest it is just a rip off of the road trips that original topgear used to do, but I can see it being very popular with American viewers. Tyler, Freddie and Ed are all very good friends so the chemistry between them
Is good, definitely better than Freddie Flintoff Chris Harris and Paddy McGuiness, only Chris Harris has any car journalism experience.

I'd have been happy if the Beeb had just binned (or at least not bothered trying to resurrect immediately) TG after 'the fiasco' and run Chris Harris On Cars as a proper show, Neil Carey's videography style is great and Chris is a likeable lad with a good head on him. Their old content on Youtube still makes my rotation occasionally.

Top gear is what it is, I can understand people like or dislike it, I actually quite like it. Each to their own. As was said with Clarkson episodes, you don’t have to watch, switch off. Light escapism not to be taken too seriously.
