What do you have against Ford?

My Focus is not dull. It's a handsome car that easily cruises at speed (70 - of course - maybe 71 at a push ;)). And it goes round corners beautifully.

Sure, my Punto was a laugh, but the Focus brings a satisfied smile to my face.

There are much worse cars out there
(Astra - built wonky, terrible gearbag on the 2.0TDI)
(Toyota - one of the small ones - 3cyl engine sounds like a fart, comfy seat...which is good, because you're going to be sat in it for a long time slow as...)
(Peugeot 207 - had potential - economical, reasonably roomy and comfy, gadgets. Let down by god awful interior, 1.2 petrol that sounds like an old tractor)

So your only Toyota gripe is the noise their 3cyl engines make. Well at least they'll still be making funny noises a decade down the road with 200k+ miles on them

Lol! Astras are ok though, they don't tend to have smug owners. I get comments from ford owners who are smug despite having precisely nothing to be smug about!

Nope not at all, very poor quality imo, and Vauxhall really have gone down hill over what they were 10-15 years ago.

I'm guessing you're a young lad. Wait until "life" sets in and all you want to do is go A to B with no drama, in comfort and with great fuel economy.

I "took the plunge" and bought a BMW and never looked back. I haven't even looked at the punto since, I get double the MPG (700 miles to 55quid) same power and my back leg pain are gone.

Don't get me wrong I loved my Punto, its a great value "entry" level car but there's ALOT of better cars out there regardless of marque.

Seconded, have done 700 miles in my golf since last week and not a ounce of drama, unlike my fiat which could be described as having "character" a code word used by people who don't want to admit their car is problematic.

Youngish, i suppose. My Grande provides me with drama free transport, in comfort, and with good fuel economy. And, it does that with the additions of good passive safety, fun when I want it, excellent styling, and a good dose of character. Plus, I'm not wanting for kit either. Without any doubt, I'd buy another one like a shot.

No, my car isn't problematic. Christ, if character was code for problematic, then my parents' escorts were overflowing with character!!

Emergency plaster boarding because the plasters coming tomorrow, she gave me a week (of evenings), to cut the heating pipes out the way clear the kitchen and plaster board the celling ?

3 grumps today:
Whilst driving home from my Dad's funeral (grump 1), there was a stretch of slow traffic where the driver of the Punto beside me (BG07ZWF) was on Facebook on his phone (grump 2) and the driver of the Mini in front (YB57UZL) was texting (grump 3).
In both cases, they were on their phones for at least several minutes. I can understand (but not condone) a glance to see an incoming text or to see who's phoning, but several minutes in moving traffic ... !
If the idiot in the Punto is on this site then he should be ashamed of himself, and think about being more responsible in future.

The Toyota was an awful drive - numb, slow and it bounced everywhere. It's not bad for city car, but I do a lot of motorway miles...which to be fair, isn't what it was designed for. In its favour though - it did feel well put together!

As for Vauxhall - I agree. The newer cars are terrible. At least 10-15 years ago they were sold as budget motors and weren't too bad. The mid 00's Zafira wasn't a bad motor, and nor was the Vectra. Never liked the liked the Corsa! And the Astra has always been a bit "meh" (until the last one I drove which physically injured me!)

Corbyn new leader of Labour. A 60 - odd year old sixth former. The country needs a strong credible opposition not a naive idealist.

I'm inclined to disagree, I'm no labour supporter (nor conservative the way they run the country at the moment) but I feel Corbyn is about to shake up politics and create a sufficiently far left enough opposition to redress the significantly right wing stance of the UK government.
