What's made you grumpy today?

What's made me grumpy today is that I've had to spend some money that I really couldn't afford to spend.
Now I've got 2 1/2 weeks of no lunch at work, let alone enough money to fix up my car or even begin to think about insurance...
It's my birthday on Thursday. All I've asked for is money, which I'd normally treat myself with, but this time it's all going to go on driving lessons and maybe some food if I can manage.

Only been out of school for a year and already learning that life is just a struggle for money.

Exactly :)

Well you can have a look here if you want. In case of two lanes merging into one, it is ALWAYS the car in front that has the right of way. Speeding up and undertaking isn't exactly giving the car in front its right of way.

the right lane looks like the main lane to me as the other lane ceases to exist. but who knows in a land where everyone is driving on the wrong side of the road :p

Dawinism by proxy in action, doesn't help the poor sods that have to pick up the pieces when it all goes pear shaped though. See it all the time in my job, minicab drivers believe they are imortal.[/QUOTE]

Is it any wonder?
Friday, I reported a black cab loading a wheelchair client (adult with severe learning disability).

Pushed up the ramp into the black cab, brakes on, shut doors & off we go!
Poor sod was travelling sideways with just his brakes to hold (and we all know how effective these things are ) and no seatbelt!
Got the whole thing on my dashcam so reported to taxi licensing along with a couple of stills (18 seconds from starting to push the chair into the cab to the door being shut!) I also offered to drop the footage to DVD for them.
This evening, I got a reply...
Thank you for your email.
I appreciate your concern for the passenger in the wheelchair, but unfortunately we are only able to deal with complaints of this nature that come directly from the customer. However the information has been logged against the relevant vehicle. Should further complaints be received we would review the information and decide if further action should be taken.
Regards Taxi Licensing

999 "hello, which service do you require?" Fire brigade - the house next door is going up in flames "I'm sorry sir but we can only respond if the owner reports it"

I suppose I should be grateful they even bothered to reply. Last month I witnessed a taxi minibus dropping off a wheelchair passenger at a local nursing home. Again, all on camera.
Wheelchair passenger (elderly lady) had no seatbelt & the wheelchair was held in by one strap which was wrapped around the centre of the flimsy cross members underneath.
Taxi licensing didn't even acknowledge that email!
I noticed that said taxi firm was also a member of the fair for all scheme - so I sent them the same email - and they didn't bother with a reply either.

I thought the days of treating people with disabilities like 2nd class citizens was long gone - seems I'm wrong.

I suppose if they hold their own family in such low regard, they ain't going to think much of anyone else's?

Location? Licencing may be impotent but if its one of our contracts I can do something.

Sadly, neither event was on one of your contracts. It seems AVDC don't care what their taxis get up to.
First event was at Hillside (opposite the Royal Bucks), second was outside the Methodist church in Buckingham St.

@dave, Social Services gave the same line as taxi licensing. Although the black cab was carrying a person who would come under their remit, the family organised transport therefore the family must complain.

£800 could be a good price depending on your details... How old are you? Any no claims? Accidents? etc... I remember paying way over that for my first years insurance

Wrightyy

Well, £800 to me seemed fairly reasonable. I'm 20, 1 year NCB, no accidents, etc.
However when I could get £300-400 from some companies it just seemed massively excessive! I told the guy my earlier quote of £450 and the best price he could do was £1200. Seems totally random!

Also my highest quote for insurance was a rather impressive £97,000. :D

The identity from this car has already been used to ring another so you'll need to find a scrap one and ring that to get it back on the road. :bang:

South Yorkshire Police won't do anything about it so I'm sharing it on as many forums and classic car pages I can find.

Just get it registered as a 'reconstructed classic' failing that Q-Plate

Police won't care because it's hard in these situations to prove anything illegal has taken place and it might have happened 40 years a go

The issue is what the identity from this car is being used for now. Someone's stolen classic, death trap kit car, death trap hotrod, newer (up to 1959) Standard, insurance write off... etc.

The Police do care. Just had an hour long chat with an officer about it. :)
