What's made you grumpy today?

What were you wearing to get chafed? Have you got proper walking trousers?

Same trousers I've used on all bar one of my other walks.

Its right up the top in-between the legs so not sure if different trousers would help much

Any links to ones which might, as I'm willing to give different trousers a try. Another in the group was told to wear lycra, they done that on another walk, and the chafing was worse than without lycra.

The trousers were loose where its occurring, its skin on skin causing it :(

Do you cycle at all...? There's a reason male long-distance cyclists wear lycra shorts, with funny leather/suede bits in them....

I think the reason lycra was suggested by someone else is that loose trousers can be as bad as tight ones -- if not worse. A good set of underwear helps, as well -- but not boxers. :nono:

My own long-distance preference (for trousers, anyway) is anything by Craghoppers or Hawkshead -- especially something that you can zip bits off, to either make longer shorts, or shorter short (the air circulation helps, greatly). Have a look at the inside leg seams, too: they can be a problem; and you don't want the crotch bit hanging too low (IYSWIM) -- otherwise, you won't have the protection of any material on your tender thighs...! :D
Andy Monty's suggestion was a good one. Personally, I like E45 (the stuff in a tub, though, not a tube: as it tends to be a bit more liquid): as it doesn't get sticky, like Vaseline can. Bike shops will also have stuff that will help: and may be able to suggest something -- especially if you find one where the staff are out on their bikes when not in the shop. :worship:

Hope this helps. I once had to do a long-distance walk in new boots: as my old, favourite ones started falling apart. The blisters were horrific; and anything that chafes can feel like your skin's on fire -- so I empathize.

Being woken up an hour ago (4am) by chanting from a bloody Orthodox church, WTF do they have to use speakers outside, surely the "believers" aren't deaf, the ****ing mosque across border must be giving lessons in how to **** people off!

Is that a serious price i remember when i asked a garage to spray a door, £900 lol

My nine hour eBay run yesterday took a little over twelve.

Every single motorway in the country is being dug up and there speed cameras every hundred and fifty bloody yards!!!! :bang: :bang: :bang:

Due to stop star motoring I averaged 48mph and barely managed 52mpg. :(

So my cheap eBay bits for my Punto are now expensive as it took £80 worth petrol to do 588 miles instead of the £60 I'd calculated based on my last run and budgeted for.
