MAJOR road into town completely snarled up because some moron wants to dig up the road at a minor junction. so they control said junction with 3-way lights (and we know how well those things work )
Queues of up to 40 minutes coming in this morning, up to 20 minutes going out plus long tailbacks on some of the other roads joining this main road.

Of course, it wouldn't occur to do this work last week during the hols, or overnight? In any case, the road is a 4 cars wide at that point (OK, I'm talking about parked cars & not driven) - so why block most of the road off?
:bang::bang::bang:

This was because of a broken water main, if you can get them to break when the traffic is lighter I'm sure transport for Bucks would be very grateful (y)

Yes, I found this out later on (even listening in to Mix, nothing was said about burst main!). But this morning, as I 'drove' past, all there was was some missing tarmac, a load of roadworks gubbins and the lights - no workmen or any sign of water problems!

It certainly did a fantastic job of highlighting just how bad the situation is in this town though. 7am and traffic was backing up all over the place because of this. I bet Arla were loving it, having shelled out a fortune on 'improvements' so their lorries could move in and out of the depot, only to have them sitting for an age in nose to tail traffic!

But as I've always said you get good insurance companies, and crap ones, which tend to be at the budget end of the market, and guess where Admiral group sit ;)

Bang in the middle, according to the link you posted :p

The trouble with this sort of guide is that it's based on the author's criteria, and a top choice for one person may be a poor choice for another.
(Which? used to bang on about Bosch, giving them lots of Best Buy ratings for white goods, but I have had better reliability from Beko and Ariston, with some very poor design features and reliability on Bosch appliances)

How many of us would be driving Fiats if we based our choice on a JD Power survey ?

I've reminiscing about my old fiats after the mk1 or mk2 thread...obviously the swift was angry it therefore decided to do something rather Italian.

Driving along I realise half the heating controls are no longer lit, but the cigarette lighter below them is. Using skills honed in my uno I hit it till it comes back on...the cigarette lighter then goes off, so I hit it again and the panel goes off and the cigarette lighter comes on, and again same result. Sitting there thinking well this could be annoying...but then I solved the problem! By er turning left.

Tbf I just creased laughing at that point...just wtf?

Funny you should say that...the danger of this sort of thing is you get used to it. For example my uno the back lighting on the dials was the issue. So my start up procedure in the dark included punching the speedo. Which you don't think anything of...until you give someone a lift and they look at you like you've just announced your plans to travel round Afghanistan licking windows.

However the uno was king of amusing electrical faults, the sender for alternator warning light was broken but the alternator itself was fine. This lead to the battery light functioning in a new capacity as a change up light, when it went off time for a new gear.

Got my quote back from the bodyshop for some seemingly minor repairs...

£2245.18

For a bumper and paint.

leads me to think. Minor bump from behind and my car will likely be written off.

17.5 mile training walk today getting read for walking Hadrian's wall next month for Cystic Fibrosis Trust, [Shameless Sponsorship Plug]Link to MEP's JustGiving page[/Shameless Sponsorship Plug], and the amount of Chafing between my legs is unbelieveable. Not only does it sting like a bitch but looks horrific also! :(

Hoping Vaseline on my next walk will help prevent it.
