Do you still 'fill her up'?

$3.50 a gallon in the USA now

a US gallon is 3.785litres
$3.50 is £1.73

so thats 1.73/3.785= 46p per litre

i currently pay 102p per litre, lucky yanks.:(

then again we get paid twice as much in the uk, so you could say the adjusted US figure is closer to 90p.

yanky doodle fuel isn't the same as ours though is it. for a start, their octane level is in MON vs RON.

i always fill my car up when it runs.

what makes me laugh as well, people moaning about the price of diesel. What did you expect? Car companies are pushing diesel fuel cars, people feel they 'need one' because it's better mpg etc. You increase demand for a product and the price goes up - not rocket science!

Supply and Demand theory, learnt it in economics. Will be at the "equilibrium" point soon surely? I know its something to do with elasticity. God it was boring.

Anyone seen higher than 118.9 for diesel?

I never fill it up, why pay to carry fuel sloshing around in the tank? It adds weight so costs you more to lug it around. I never put in more than £30. Might up that to £35 if and when the budget actually does increase the costs.

Thing is tho diesel is or at least used to be a less refined and cheaper to produce fuel than petrol not sure who true that is in the age of low sulphur diesel tho.

we are always at the equilibrium, but the equlibrium moves as demand and supply changes. elasticity is very important in the fuel market, demand for petrol and diesel is almost perectly inelastic because you have to buy them no matter how much they cost, there is no real alternative. where ever you have inelastic demand with no real substitute you almost always have a tax, because they know you cant avoid the tax.

economics is the science of society, i think it is one of the most interesting things you can study, it explains why the world is the way it is, and helps you predict what will happen, explain what has happened, and plan what you will do about it.

If you leave it to get to the empty mark where the orange light is on and you've got a range of about 30 miles it costs about £43 for the petrol to fill it completely to the top.
Do it all the time and pay by 'Visa' card.......hate stopping and getting petrol!

Read light, when on constantly, not flickering on and off in the panda get me 50-70 miles:D.

In Dubuy (can't spell to save my life) petrol cost 1p Per Litre! No lie! It's cheaper than water out there! I've got a friend from there.

dubai; 1p per litre is a bit of a fib, although it is cheaper than water.

when i lived there i could fill up with super unleaded (101ron) for £6. i had a 40l tank so that approx 15p per litre, that was back in 1999.
