New Lancia to Boost Fiat Global Sales

New Lancia to Boost Fiat Global Sales

its an ugly bravo, so why would fiat think it could sell half as well as the bravo? considering bravo sales have been slow i dont think an ugly version is going to help matters. it isnt even a true lancia because its getting the bravo's rear suspension instead of the alfa 149 rear suspension (full multilink), so its nothing more than a shopping car with a lancia badge stuck on. a minority of sentimetal italians will buy it just for the badge, but anyone who wants a shopping car will buy the bravo instead, and anyone who wants a driver's car will buy the 149 instead, so where does this delta fit in?

it hasnt changed since the 2006 paris motorshow; i thought it was ugly then, and i think its just as ugly now. if fiat really think this car can save lancia then they need to hire some new marketing monkeys.

the lancia brand is struggling very badly, they have been for years, i dont think the lancia brand will last too much longer. lets be honest, lanica died years ago, everything since has been an insult to its heritage. live up to the brand or die gracefully, dont tarnish the good times FFS!!

i like the body styling on it's profile view - but that's what i like on the bravo.

the rear end is horrid.

although TBH everything they've made since 1998 has been freaking disgusting IMO

Now hang on there was the.....but what about the..... No you're right. The Thesis is a main offender, how do they expect that to sell in the notoriously conservative prestige sedan sector?

Troy.

Beauty is obviously in the eye of the beholder. Personally I think it's gorgeous.
Having said that I've had a thing for Lancias ever since I sold them in 1985. At the time, you could have had a Strada or a Delta. Ugly tin box made by robots or gorgeous Guigiaro designed muti World Champion. Croma or Thema? Flexible, as in body flex, 5 door hatch or sharp executive saloon?
Even the last Delta from about 10 years ago was a good looking car. The question is: Where do FIAT position this car in relation to the other main brands in the group? Well, they could always look at VW. They have, in descending order, Audi, VW, Seat and Skoda. The only danger is when a magazine (Autocar?) came along and stated that the "Best Golf isn't a Golf" They considered the best car in the group built on a Golf floorpan was in fact the Skoda Octavia. Thankfully for VW, the snobbish British attitude meant that people kept buying the Golf and A3 and left the Octavia to minicab drivers.

I can see it now....

"Hmmm... I need a new Merc... but hang on... lets take a trip to look at a Lancia....."

 :nono:  :chin:

personally, i think the leon is the best golf platform model, not only because it is the best looking, but because it seems to be designed with the most attention to detail. the audi TT would be my second choice. golf comes much further down the list imo. its the little things that make a big difference to me, which is probably why i'm still impressed by my alfa's hidden rear handles, hidden washer jets, and hidden aerial.

i just thought, technically it isnt the golf platform, its the 'A' platform from VW.
