Hi,

I'm getting a new or nearly new car (buy or lease) and is wondering which one would be the best as far as biodiesel or SVO goes. I am happy to change filters and make/blend the fuel myself. Just want to know which car/engine I should be going for that will be the least hassle. I've heard of Fiat owners using BD so thought I'd ask you all. Thinking of getting a brava 150BHP sport or similar.

Thanks.

i have a shower every day and i cut my hair once a month so i'm definately not a hippy, but even i think its wrong to use biodiesel, why dont you just set fire to a local forest instead? then you get to see the animals burning. it would be a shame for a south american farmer to get all the pleasure.

the 1.9JTD can be run on svo, i believe you can run on 75% svo without any modifications. for 100% you need a heater, although i personally believe in summer you could run on 100% if you used a light oil such as rapeseed.

there are many previous threads about this, especially in the marea section, have a search.

for example https://www.fiatforum.com/marea-technical/110945-jtd-glee-fastest-veg-oil-car.html

So is it true you can get in trouble if you get pulled, and a fuel check reveals un-taxed homemade fuel?

I'll be making my own from WVO if that matters. Appreciate the sarcasm though.

Ok cool, I'll check out which new cars have this engine.

for exampl ...

I have seen the marea threads but I don't want a marea, and haven't seen any other definitive lists/guides regarding 2007/2008 cars.

Thanks for the info, appreciated.

Nope, law was changed, you can produce 2500L per year yourself. This equates to around 20k miles on average I believe.

Ahhh cool ok. I guess it would be contradictory for the government to encourage green-ness then b*llock people for using their own bio fuels!
