hard to believe in this day and age of constant media bombardment that there was a time, when we had only 3 channels of tv, that started about 8am and closed around midnight, nicam, hi def, widescreen, surround sound, etc were all years away, and most households had only one telly...

we used to get a white dot in middle of screen when we turned it off too :)
and horizontal hold often buggered up, so you would have to watch a rolling screen.
only rich people had out side antennas the rest of us had indoor ones that you had to keep moving all the time to get a good picture, only time you got a good picture though was when some one was holding it, as soon as it was put nown picture would be rubbish again :(
