Our managing director at work got pulled over for driving with his fog lights on last night.

How he didnt realise he had them on i will never know.

We all left the pub at about 11pm, and set of in a convoy to head back towards selby where i woud head home and they would go back to the hotel.

I was following Doug's car and he was following me, but was quite a bit behind. Went round the first roundabout and he caugt up as we had to slow for a lorry. As he came up behind me i though to myself - his lights are a bit bright. But i thought nothing of it really (he was still a few 100m away).

Went in between the two laybay's on the selby ring road and saw him turn of the roundabout, as we went past the laybay we saw a cop car.

Got to the next roundabout and carried straight on over that and he wasnt following us anymore. Was quite puzzling. I thought he had just gone really slow with the cop car being there (i was sticking to the speed limit).

Got into work and got told what happened from one of the area managers who was in the car with him.

lol - that'll teach him that fog lights are for use in the fog! :p

He had the p**s taken out of him no end today.

One of his usual sayings is:

"tell you what it is"

we were all imagining what he said to the police officer when he got pulled.

"tell you what it is officer, the switch is down here and i knocked it with my leg as i got in"

i dont know how he managed to miss that he had them on though.

The extra light infront of him, and the light on the dashboard as well

He also had 2 or 3 other people in the car with him as well who said that they were all in hysterics.

It is possible to have your fog lights on and not realise.

I don't have a light on my dash. Must be too busy concentrating on the road...god damn me eh?

aye I had that in the starlet now and then =/ thankfully never got pulled lol, but I have a deep hatred for the sidelight with foglamp brigade -_-

The light on my dash is about size 48 digits lol :D

Some of the fog lights on fiats are built into the headlights - such as mine (y)

i do know that on nissans though they have particularly small lights to show you the fogs are on though

I have no warning lights in the starlet lol :O

ummmm i just pay attention to mirrors and the dash when driving. fogs on during day? Big deal they aint that bright

This was at night at 11pm though

he has an x-trail and all the lights/dash instruments are in the middle for them so im guessing he just didnt look at it in that much detail to see.

feel sorry for him in a way, yet it is quite funny :D

I wish plod were a bit more like that round here.

All the chavmobiles have OEM or retro fit fogs & they drive round with them glaring day & night - no matter what the weather.
If they drive behind me, I treat them to a lightshow from my rear fogs, if they are coming towards me, I treat them to some full beam.
Amusingly, they'll sit behind me flashing their lights for ages & not think for one minute why have I suddenly turned on my fogs.

Sometimes as I'm driving past long tailbacks I have noticed just how many drivers there are that sit for ages in a really long queue with their fogs on - and it's generally a nice sunny morning or evening. It's about 25% of the drivers around here.
The fogs are serving absolutely no purpose whatsoever apart from telling the world that a tit is driving.
Plod could earn some serious cash if they walked along the queue & booked every idiot for showing their fogs - a better moneyspinner than the cameras.

And how can you not know your fogs are on? I always thought there had to be a visual indicator for ancilliary equipment? This can be a light or icon on the dash or a light built into the switch.

I think i might try that plan next time and blind the chavs with my full beam who come towards me (y) with ther fogs on. silly idiots.

I think i have only ever used my fogs once when it was really foggy.

i don't know how  light or no light, you must know what you've switched on in the car? you're not meant to concentrate on the road, meant to concentrate on driving!!

Thats another thing i hate as well.

Cars that only drive around with one headlight working. I see the same car in selby every night that i pass, who for the last week or two has been using his car with just one light working when in 2 weeks he could have had it sorted - really winds me up
. Is an escort btw :D

Yeah, some people

I must say that i do actually prefer driving home in the dark - dont know why i just do.

Feels in a strange way slightly cosy lol :D

With the heating on and in my own space.

That's another wind up. Dipped beam that's waaaaaay out of alighnment so one light shines sideways & the other directly at your eyes - WTF is that all about? GET IT FIXED.
& how do these cars pass their MOT?
I thought headlight alignment was a part of the test - the reason for the headlamp alignment units in the test bays.
"switch the lights on fred"
"OK"
"I said, switch the lights on"
"they are"
"Oh yes, I can see ow, one's lighting up the ceiling, the other's lighting up the engine bay"

I've never used my front fogs, tried them in really bad fog & found they made no difference, although when you get out of the car, you can see that they do light up some of the road - sadly not enough to see past the end of the bonnet.

Wierdest fog I ever drove in stopped halfway down the windscreen.
Top half, zero visibility, a real pea souper, bottom half, crystal clear night, perfect visibility. The bottom of the fog just bubbling away.
Had to drive sitting in the strangest position.

We had it bad with fog a few months ago round our region.

Its usually first thing in the morning though. I had got up to go to get a minibus at work as we were all going down south to an exhibition.

As i got out of snaith i hit a really bad patch of fog as you go over the river (reminded me of some horror film ), had to put them on then.

And then as i neared work it was bad there as well. :D
