im acctually quite suprised he live that long in a tent i thought chavs would have got him a long time ago,

This was on Central News a couple of nights ago. He lived like he did because he was so ashamed of what he did.

I know what you mean, but ironically (sp?) he had a lot of respect off people in the city.

That was of course until his past came out, he had made a pact with the people who really knew him that nothing was to be said about his history until he died

It was kept quiet because he knew what people would have done to him if they knew

I'll bet there are quite a few locals who have had relatives killed in the war, now feel really bad if they've been treating him as 'that friendly old tramp' or whatever for years, now that they know this.

Well i actually think it is harsh even if he was a Nazi!
what if even he didnt agree with what he was doing but it was easier to do it rather than be tortured by an evil regime for not agreeing with them.

Could you live with yourself? even if you were forced to do it with a gun at your head, could you seriously tell me you could do to children let alone adults what they did and live with yourself after?

no i couldnt, but theres still no reason to wish a slow and painful death on someone. i mean i know what the Nazis did was a terrible but what if he was brought up to believ doing things like that was right, what about when british people had slaves and did terrible things to them, people at that time wont have thought it was terrible as they believed that they should have slaves and treat them like they did

He was Polish, but that doen't mean he wasnt a Nazi... 1st I heard of this despite him bein in the Spress n Star a few times... hell of a pact that... no-one blurted it for money...?

A lot of my mums family were killed in poland through the regime, very few actually escaped hence there only being my mum with no brothers or sisters and my nan who sadly passed a few years ago. we dont have any family as a result of this. I am not going to say exactly how i feel about this because it will offend some people but i dont think that anybody should have any sympathy for nazi soldiers.

The SS were racist bullies and generally scum, if you take the time to look into what they did it's deeply worrying to discover what one human being can do to another. It is important not to let the sort of mental "tilt" these unimaginable crimes cause you bring you down to their level. The Allied trials after the war with legal counsel available to the accused and then hanging those found guilty and sentenced to death using the same method that was then applied to criminals was just about right IMHO. In fact some guards at Concentration camps were shot out of hand by the liberating forces, understandably no one was ever prosecuted for this. The SS and Werhmacht were different organistaions, and very courageously some Army officers did plot to kill Hitler , more than once, but he always survived and some good men died horribly as a result. Living in Wolves I knew the guy so BACK OFF. He was respected by every1 from around here.

I take it none of you posting here have ever studied psychology? Take the time to read up on the power of Conformity and Authority Pressures. When you watch Darren Brown on TV and think when he gets ppl to do as he says its cool, then you can't think differently about the Nazi's. Its just done on a bigger scale and for worse reasons. Our army is trained to kill the enemy and not have a second thought. Thats why the army use uniforms and numbers, if you have no identity then you can't be blamed. All armies do it, just some worse than others.

Fred or Josef, lived like he wanted, every1 knew him or knew of him and all he wanted was peace and quiet. He was offered a house but he liked his tent.

All he did was keep quiet, pick up litter and sweep the roads. That makes him better than 75% of kids these days.

And besides who said he was a nazi, a tabloid newspaper yeah ok that source is on par with wikipedia. His closest friends knew nothing about him, how do the newspapers know?

The guy just died, have a little respect rather than calling him Nazi scum. Especially with no evidence to back it up.

In that case don't associate a recently deceased polish army veteran, whom we do not know was an SS member. He served his country, it may not of been our country but he deserves respect for the life he lived. Just becasue he didn't serve for your country doesn't mean he is an enemy. That is racist!

How do you know he was a Polish?

I am finding it highly improbable for a former Waffen SS soldier to move to GB during 50s. If they did not want to go on soldiering in the French Foreign Legion, Argentina and Paraguay were receiving them with open arms at the time.
