insurance fronting

insurance fronting

im in a debating mood :D another topic coming up ;)

They should just make everyones insurance really high so there is no point in fronting.

If your 49 year old mum with 12 years no claims had to pay the exact same to insure a car as a 17 year old guy with 9 points and only held a license for 3 months nobody would bother with the fronting.

Could even introduce flat rates.
£2000 for 3rd party and £4000 for fully comp. no matter what car either.

Makes alot of sense don't it. :D

all thats needed for that is the 17 year olds to stop driving like 17 year olds:idea:

to be honest the insurance companys have to take more blame as the articles show.
questions like does a named driver own any vehicles etc should be asked.
okay fronting can still happen but a young driver owning a car and being a 2nd driver just rings alarm bells

if the insurance co know that the owner is only a named driver they've got nothing to complain about.

i "front" lolol

my mams the main driver and im the added driver

insurance for my punto 1.2 was £1200 3rdparty and £1900 for full comp

i cant afford that so im on £636 for 3rd party save alot and my mams never drove the car once lol

Never did it myself, just saved really hard. I was slighty fortunate that the Seicento wasn't too heavy on insurance and in my first year I only paid £500 as I couldn't have the years free from the dealership. After that with one years under my belt, savings and pass plus I managed to pay off the £1200 bill I had for the next premium in one hit.

My sister though had to take this option of "fronting" though. Her premium was just a joke and she only had an SX version unlike my sporting! So parents did register and insure the car under their name and she was added as a named driver for I think two years. When she got her current Ka thats when she took out her own.

i dont see the problem really end of the day they r geting £600 out of me and i wont get a NCB so wats the problem the insurance people r just after even more money out of us young folk lol
Not wishing on you but lets say you have an accident, your premium has been assessed on your parents being the majority driver. So insurance co. pay out but in the scheme of things lose out big time. Multiply this effect by thousands of people and bingo you have an issue

lolol mams car lol can do alot with them lol my mate drives a 05 clio and wheel spins n dose all tht crap lol and his mam took the car off him lololololol

i paid for my car myself so theres no way im geting it took off me lol

I did it whilst i was learning to drive and then a few months after passing my test last year. But i have been on my own insurance since the end of may last year.

Ive got over 1 years no claims, and pay £1300 a year on my Stilo 1.9JTD (i do approximately 13k miles a year).

Next door there is a lad to me who has an old shape 2.0Dti Astra, and he is on his mums insurance and pays about £1500 if not a bit more, and he has no 'no claims bonus' at all  - and he does a lot more miles then me a year - serious insurance fronting.

how would they know whos the main driver though!? most of my friends are added on there mums policy's, but most of them except i think 1, there mum/dads are the main drivers cos they cant afford there own car. thats why one of them drives a yaris :p his mums car  lol
People actually forget to register the car in the parents name, thats usually the first way you get caught out. Not sure if the police also have the power to report back if they spot the named driver alot of the time driving around. So helps not to have a car that attracts attention or driving like an idiot.
