Are you sure? I thought there cost was about 29 cents per litre? ~ 5 litres in a gallon right?so those costs are even lower than those quoted on the news last night?

Don't we have to use US gallons, which is different to UK gallons [which is 4.54545 litres per gallon].

And this is Canadian dollars surely.......

My head hurts - what was the question????

lol, sorry, forgot about the old stupid conversions! Why in the world are there so many different units for everything?! lol

Basically, I do believe they pay about 17pence/litre....

Now if only all these countries remained in the Empire!!!!

Basically, all I know is that the tax in this country is horrendous on fuel [3rd most expensive in Europe, or something] - and that the blockades may start again.

Civil servants may get a 3 day working week if that happens - a leaked memo, apparently.

3rd most expensive! You know where Norway is?

Morten.

gas lowered on abarth wheels. upgraded interior and visuals. audio through phoenix gold and kenwood.

projects: air in and out.

Won't do a think though! The government raise so much revenue from the petrol sales it is near impossible to even think of a 1penny decrease - it simply can't be done. The recent raises people seem to forget are nothing to do with taxes anyway, just problems in the middle east etc. (I am not insulting you Stu or 99% of people on here who do know what the cause is; just some seem to think it's the government's fault!)

I heard this morning on the news that if fuel blockades were to happen:

1) The army would deal with it quickly
2) Any long term stand offs will lead to the banning of ALL car driving except those that are necessary services - sounds like a herrendous idea but the government could easily implement this I guess.

And what would be achieved? Nothing!

Ps. I am all up for protesting on a lot of topics but feel this is a lost battle and any protesting will just cause even greater losses to the UK's business.

Is Norway 2nd or 1st???

In Northampton, the large BP in town is fuelled direct from the refinery - blockade, what blockade.....

At least with my job I can work from home - FF on laptop, FF on home PC - same difference :D

It pisses me off all this - I work at Tesco Petrol Station. People are always moaning at us because of the prices - I don't have any say in the price it comes from head office twice a week.

They say they're going to boycott BP, Esso and Shell. "Only buy from supermarkets" they say. "Boycott the big oil companies' fuel".

Tossers.

Where do they think Tesco get their fuel from? It's not Tesco Value Fuel... it comes from Esso in Fawley or BP in London.

It shows that do-gooding retards like this haven't got a f*cking clue what they're protesting about and they're jumping on a tree-hugging Liberal-democrat voting Guardian-reading bandwagon.

Go home, and shut up.

Thankyou.

rich; why don't we all stop work full stop?! It would be nice to be lazy, ah, but, no one can grow food then, make products you like, deliver products you like, your car can't move...

Boycot petrol as much as you want, I won't, and 99.999% of other people won't, I will make sure I have over half a tank at all times until this mess blows over.

Again, the recent price hikes have NOTHING to do with the government unless you blame them for terrorism which is far too political for me today!

Well said cinq; especially comment about where the fuel comes from which is of course 100% true! You might have read my similar comments on this topic a week or so ago which mirrored what you have said really.

BUT i disagree on the stereotype of who protests.

Ban all cars ;)

Hang on, re-reading your comment for the 10th time I can interept it as:

Idiots who haven't a clue try to follow cleverer people who know what they are talking and hence caused the blockades.

Firstly I took it as: All the people who do this sort of thing are tree hugging guardian readers and was thinking "hmmm, i don't remember the decent papers condoning such action where as the Sun etc. took a very different stances I expect!"
