just was this report in the scotsman http://news.scotsman.com/paperboy.cfm?id=621122004 now for those of you who dont know edinburgh, pricess street was a 4 lane road, now a 2 and soon to be none.our parking restrictions run monday to saturday 8am-6pm,our parking charges are huge and we have privatised traffic wardens who take no prisoners(a hearse(spelling)at a funeral and an ambulance on a call were recent ticketed cars).
we have greenways, bright green bus lanes where no cars are allowed(instant fine) which would be fine if the council werent just cutting all the main roads in half whilst removing parking spaces and extending the restricted zones so residents now have to pay £120/year for a permit with no allocated space.our new thing is communal bins on the streets(nice for a tourist city)which take car parking spaces and on some streets make the one lane.
our roads are pothole city and yet the council had money left over from the highways budget.loads of speedcameras that are never on the accident blackspots .
the best one yet is were getting congestion charging at £2/day whether you come into the city or travel out and then come home at night you pay £2.
fimmo who lives in Fife would pay £1 to cross the forth road bridge +£2 congestion charge as theres no discount on the bridge either.sorry for the rant, anyone in a worse city?[V]

Bloody hell, I thought Sheffield was bad - nowhere to park within 2 miles of the city centre, loads of queues, s**te road surfaces, one-way-everything, hopeless signposting etc, but at least they don't expect us to pay for it! Well, not yet anyway...[xx(]

haha stu!!!! I think Nottingham is fairly good BUT with the recent STUPID tram, it will probably change :(

Sheffield is awful IMO - BUT the park and ride was quick and clean, if not a little expensive.
