its an induction kit and a modification so needs to be declared on the insurance.

oh and, if you pass and keep the car in your mums name and drive the car yourself... there are limits on how much you can drive the car just being a named driver... i found this out the hard way too...
needless to say, the V5 is in my name now, the insurance policy is in my name, with all my mods declared for the tidy sum of £600

Your wrong carl. Its not just an airfilter. and you will get a shock when you get your own policy as it will double in price

at the current point in time we havent told them as at the end of the day its an air filter. plus my renewal is up not long away so its not worth mentioning it yet.
but my current insurance (no mods mentioned. YET) is £850 a year fully comp under my mas name with me and my dad as named drivers.
yep as soon as i pass im getting my own policy (although my ma is setting it up for me to start with and i then pay it as soon as i get a job)
my test is a week tomorrow so will see how i do first
current smile: im just more of a jolly and relaxed person these days
most places wont insure you unless the V5 is in your name too.. so i assume you;re having the car properly signed over to you

If you go out tomorrow and you crash insurance take the car away and say hold up this induction kit isnt declared we aint giving you any money what you gonna say? We were waiting to renewal to declare it? Sure that will make them go oh well if thats the case its fine then
most insurance co's wont accept any mods on a car till you 25 either

direct line wouldnt let me have mods when it was in my dads name and me as a named driver when i was 22.. so i went with adrian flux, got forum discount and got it all put in my name with all mods declared. i pay about £600
im 23 now with licence for 2 years a no ncb

not only that but they'll probably VOID the policy which makes you an uninsured driver 6 points endorsement + fine (that's an instant ban for you and a resit theory and practical)

as my test is a week tomorrow it can wait till then and then ill declare it.
according to our insurance they will accept mods but theres a list as to which they will because some they wont.
so say your mums out driving on the icy roads this wednesday.... and a car pulls out by accident.... smash front end lightly dented... but oooo they spot a GSR.. whoops!!!!
