Unfortunately, you're outright wrong here Andy. No debate. The 'far' right and left are very real. It's when you take your typical and valid 'right' conservative or 'left' liberal views, but you mutate it and leave rationality behind. Anybody on both sides can take things 'too far' and it's when things are taken too far with no tolerance, there is a problem. To pretend that there is only a far right, but not a far left to use your own term is: delusional.

I think actually delusional was your word.

Now yes there is always the potential for someone of any persuasion to take things too far but there is not a militant band of highly organised left leaning extremists ready to shoot you in the face for threatening to take away their kale and yoga.

The other irony is the “liberal left” liberal is the middle, it’s not left or right. These are all terms that firstly come from American politics and news stations we don’t and never have talked about uk politics as left or right, even brexit wasn’t a left or right leaning subject, it was voted for by people of all walks of life.

Left and right specifically relates to American political views and whether or not something is deemed to be left, is if it’s not right leaning, that means everything in the middle “liberal” and left is left.

Now we still live in a country in which if you have an opinion that women should be able to pursue a career then you can say that, there is no rule anyone has to follow that but it is the right of all people if they want to follow a certain career path they can do that. Your arguments about nannies are basically nonsense it’s not a common thing that everyone has nannies, I know very few people who do employ nannies for there children despite those children being in private schools. Remember my wife and I both work in health care and a lot of doctors send there kids to private schools and some do have nannies, then again there are plenty who don’t and also work part time and still have highly successful careers, I’m honestly confused why this is some major issue for you as a young man who as far as I’m aware does not have children. Why is this your main burning issue !?!!

If someone wants to stand up and say “woman should have a rights to.....” where as a young man do you feel that you have any right to argue against this or argue that it’s an “extreme left” view, I’m sorry but you’ve totally confused me here, probably because you’re trying to apply an American right/left view to a society it doesn’t fit. And an argument that makes you sound highly misogynistic.

There are bigger issues in the world than a woman wanting a career, why did you pick that argument?

Good, I'm glad we agree there is a far / left and right! :D

I'm not sure you understood my point, it clearly says both people working is good! It's saying it's stupid for anybody of either gender to choose to devote their life entirely to it at the expense of their children. And that's the current lie they're peddling (feminists) to young women... I'm saying everything in my opinion btw. But much of what I'm quoting relates to some of the good points Jordan Peterson makes, you should check him out. He's a legend.

My principle point to you though is that you're wrong to deny the existence of a far left, whilst acknowledging there is a far right (y)

It's never over until you say it's over, is it? ;-) lol

I think you’ve somewhat twisted what I’ve said to claim my agreement in a “far left” I’d go back and read what I actually said.

Also why does any of this matter to you, why do you have such a strong anti feminist view, people can say what they want but no one is actually forcing woman into having to follow a career so I’m totally confused at what you’re actually arguing against or as I said, why this in anyway affects you, or matters to you?

Also you talk of Jordan Peterson who clearly has very distinct view on certain things and my guess is makes quite a lot of money from sharing those views, so when you say that everyone this is in your opinion, is it your opinion if you’re following the views of some YouTube bloke....?

You could try having your own opinion and looking at more than one source or you could try concentrating on things that actually matter to you , unlike whether or not a feminist feels that women have the right to follow a career, and then calling this an “extreme left ideal”?

Well, if you want to discuss further - since you've done your usual changing the focus / responding with ever more questions that circle the point - I'm eagerly awaiting your message :D

But in the spirit of not wanting to abuse the happy thread as yet-another-soapbox for our conversations, I don't think it's suitable for here. I'm sure if anybody is still following they'll thank me for this lol :worship:

Definitely very much your soapbox and you started that argument here, though I still can’t fathom why, I honestly have no wish to get involved in your weird right wing theories so I will just leave it, I’m going to guess you’re in one of your weird moods again where you just want to start arguments.

Sorry, there is never an argument until you come along with your smart *rse attitude.

This was me replying to a guy reflecting on how much he saw his kids versus being at work. I replied sympathising / saying ‘yeah that seems to be getting worse’ and whilst a few people replied / quoted me disagreeing or adding thing of a different perspective - there was no arguing.

Same the other day with the Mac thing. Someone mentioned a computer problem, someone else mentioned that’s why they use a Mac. I chimed in agreeing.

Common factor there is that there was no ‘argument’ until you came along and happened to take issue with what I was saying.... same old.

Throughout the years I’ve had a few people message me about your shenanigans noticing how it seems to target me.

I’m not too worried and I don’t take it too seriously, as you can gather from some replies. I can safely say in an academic proper debating setting I could shatter a lot of your attempts to ‘educate me’, not that we’ll ever get the chance but nevertheless our little discussions are entertaining. It’s just a shame that it hijacks threads and gets in other members way.

There’s a high level of me repeating, understanding and respecting every other persons view even when I disagree with them including you. I don’t see any such attempt to bridge or respectfully discuss matters in any of your replies, so I believe you’re the party who makes everything into ‘an argument’.

Glad I got that off my chest ... there’s my smile for the day ??

Dracula dead and loving - it is a film that makes me laugh and laugh.
Very dated and very silly.
Favourite bit Leslie Nielsen with an elastoplast cross over his nose but you have to see why.

I agree, However I believe what we have would "work" if we didn't have open borders. You can't have a healthcare and benefit system that's "free at the point of entry" and have open borders. It's either one or the other. Open borders can and only will work if everyone is playing from the same rule book...

No desire to start this again but this made me think of a joke which sums up my views on this and I'd stopped reading last night..

A banker, a worker, and an immigrant are sitting at a table with 20 cookies on it.

The Banker takes 19 cookies and turns to the worker and warns him "you need to watch that immigrant, he'll steal your cookie".

;)

Watched a brake tutorial on YouTube by a guy named 'Michelo DIY'. Very practical views of the job and some good tips and states the size of the tools needed and all the little tips like greasing the guide pins / copper greasing and wire-wooling down bits of the system. Not sure if it was just his personality, but the Welsh accent makes everything sound very friendly and helpful lol :)

Aye different ways these days, the likes of these videos that show you how to do brakes step by step are handy for the driver who knows little about such things , but are willing to have a go. The likes of my era and a little later, we come from a time when the working man serviced and tinkered with cars.

Probably like others I learned from my Grandad, my Father, and Uncles. Been discussed before on here how owning a car these days is different thing from years gone by. Quite a lot of vehicle purchases are leased, so servicing is done by others. It’s also been mention before that there is less interest in car mechanics by the up and coming your team, it is what it is. Of course vehicles these days are fitted with computers, sensors and other tech’ which when goes wrong, you have little chance of a quick recovery.

Same here, learnt from my uncle from having to do various jobs on the old Panda 169 I got when it was 10. Had it not been for that I’d probably be like everyone else I know, who throw money at a mechanic to have these things done. It’s a shame because I’ve discovered the joy and satisfaction of being able to say ‘We did that ourselves’. I also find it fascinating how cars work and are put together. Now getting to experience the differences between Fiat and PSA which I’m sure will be the centre of much ‘fun’ lol

Appear to have located my rattle/knock front left.

Sounded like something heavy and metal knocking on right turns passenger side.

Sounded just like an alloy wheel key that's come out of cloth it's normally wrapped in and is bouncing inside the glovebox.

Was wondering how a car that literally hadn't moved for weeks had broken the suspension...

Not sure I should smile at this or not but whatever I find it quite funny, we have a psychotic black bird that appeared in the last week that does not like cars, specifically the wing mirrors only on one side of the car and only when parked in a certain spot, at the weekend it was attacking my golf in front of the house, I actually thought it has got its feet stuck in the mirror glass, but when I went out it flew off, had pooed all down the side of the car by the mirror and left marks all on the window and mirror glass.

Moved the car away and thought no more of it.

Then my wife parked her mini out exactly where the golf had been a couple of days later. Went out to the car to go to work and found the same streaks of bird poo all down the door and the same marks on the window and mirror glass.

No car parked there for a few more days but went shopping on Saturday in the punto, parked the other way round but in the same spot. Hadn’t looked at the Punto since then but went out it to agai. Find that the wing mirror nearest the house had been attacked and the door was covered in bird poo like the others, only happens if you park in a specific spot as the Punto is usually parked a little further up and had not been attacked before, also only attacks the mirror on once side of the car, no matter which way round the car is parked it’s only the side nearest the house.

I watched and even filmed the bird and he’s completely insane, goes mental over and over again at the wing mirror and window glass. And is fairly relentless.

I find it funny anyway.... no real harm done

It's breeding season and alpha bird is seeing competition in the door mirror. Put a cloth over it. The bird will be happier and the car won't get poo'd on. The "away from house" side is probably reflecting sky so he's not seeing his reflection.

Bought my brakes yesterday. That's another thing sorted for the next couple of years (discs anyway I hope). Picked up one of those Turtle Wax scratch repair things too, worth a shot.

Next purchases: a nice pair of sunglasses, a fairly expensive office chair and I think that'll do me until August when I fork over my life savings for a mortgage :D

You’re probably right, trying to work out if it’s a male or female bird, I wondered if it was female was it defending a nest it has somewhere, somewhere that’s in view of that side of the car.

It’s not just the wingmirror it’s attacking, I did catch it sat on the ground jumping up at the front bumper of the golf and also because the golf has door handles that are like a loop it sits on the door handle like a perch and pecks at the body work above the handle, so I’m gonna try covering the mirror but I don’t think that will stop it.

Maybe for the time being just don’t park there ?
