Emotion will win over logic every time.

Not every time luckily, otherwise we’d all be in the same position. But yes a lot of seem to have this issue. More fool them.

People already drive past many a charging point, but are likely unaware if not looking. And it’s not always very high mileage which’ll cause extensive wear. Poor maintenance can also do this, and regularly does. Unless you’ve owned from new you won’t always know either.

Well this morning I went to a local country park as is my Sunday habit (less distance than Boris's bike ride from my house if anyone is wondering).

Parked the C3 up for an hour went for a walk with the toddler.

If I had an electric car I'd have parked it in the bay to the right of the one I was in which contains a rapid charger. Having done that would give enough range for the week.

Also local National trust places have chargers installed as well. Makes perfect sense to have them somewhere you'd normally spend a few hours rather than these forecourts that seem to be the latest thing.

They’re destination chargers at NT properties, which are fast chargers designed to charge in a few hours, which is probably the typical dwell time at a location like that.

Most forecourts have rapid chargers, where 20-40 min will see most EVs from 0-80% charge.

This will be the way forward really. Rapids at Tesco and the like, so people can get their week or twos worth of charge while they’re inside for 20-30min doing their shop.

paj you brought a big smile on my face. the sound reminded me of my ariel leader round the lanes here in west wales.

Me too. I always fancied the stripped down look of the Arrow super sport. They did make a "nice noise" didn't they. Compared to my 125 Bantam? well, you just couldn't compare really could you?

the best 2t bike i had was a cotton double/glouster boy didnt go many times the old bill waited for me at home only down side car did not stop at junction, off work 32 weeks smashed knee and lost middle finger on left hand .but did not stop me going back on a bike , this was back in 1962. can stick my fingers in thair and get away with it ha` ha`

Washed the car... bit of a quick one... did more between the 'rinse offs' and didn't bother doing the alloys. But this winter, more so than any other winter, I've managed to keep up the once per week routine. Nothing like a nice shiny car, salt-free and gleaming between the others that have been neglected for weeks in winter.

And then, since not allowed to travel to the coast, just sat in the car, parked next to the river, back seat, coffee, book and stretched out. Pretty cosy, just hoping nobody noticed or they'd think I was a right weirdo! Lol Thankfully darkened windows saved the day.

We have a tiny grassed roundabout at one end of town. The cowslips seem to come up there earlier than anywhere else each spring. Always good to see. However, sometimes the council will do the first cut, just as they come up, so then we wait another year.

Frankly this just laziness. The people doing the job DO know the score and it makes my blood boil. If this is the result of so called progress its not got anything to recommend it. I had 20 years in this work and I cannot think of anyone I ever worked with who would not hand their head in shame at this!

Green C3 has appeared round the corner...looks to be intact despite about an inch and half of snow now.

Woo....even if I was rather surprised at the clip she came round the corner as that's where she nearly crashed last year.

Got my parking sensors fixed today! Now... if only I had a reason to actually drive anywhere?!

Make the most of it.. drive to the corner shop 'for milk' in reverse ;)

Back when cars had 4 speed boxes..

A bloke in a Vauxhall Cavalier .. nearly new.. had all the forward gears fail

So he just drove in reverse ..!!

He was a sales rep. So did 40k backwards :)

Many GM m32 gearboxes didnt last that long in either direction

How could he have reversed for so many miles?! That's mad!

I can barely see out of the back of this thing... compared to the Panda, anyway!

Back before you were a glint in your parents' eyes, cars had windows that could be used to see out of, much like the Panda. Cavaliers 1 & 2 had good visibility. Only when they went to the curvy Mk3 did visibility deteriorate.
Ah! the good old days.

I hear the Benz motorwagen had fantastic visibility. Some say the lack of roof meant roll over and weather protection wasn't quite as good as todays vehicles but do you priotise visibility or crash protection?

Think the closest I've ever had to a car where you could see all 4 corners was the Uno. Everything since has either had a down curved bonnet at the front or fairly large rear pillars or both.

The DS3 is probably the worst one we've had, over the shoulder visibility with the small back window, wide pillars and the shark fin motif in the leading edge of rear side window rendered lane changes an adventure. Maybe it was just my driving position but it always seemed the metal section was perfectly positioned where you'd look to check there was no one in your blind spot on a dual carriageway. Quite odd when it is styled to look like there are no pillars at all in the rear 3 quarters.

Even forward visibility wasn't great, may have been my seating position but whenever you got to a back road and started launching it at corners anything more than about a 40 degree bend would be obscured by the A-Pillar.

But buy a 3 door with low roofline, raked windscreen and shallow glass area and this the fun that occurs.
