What's made you smile today?

Been having a bit of trouble with the dishwasher, all fixed now apparently, but meanwhile had spent a bit of time researching replacements.
Today, an auto-generated email from Ebay. "Inspired by your searches: Bosch Washing Machine"
The crockery may be in thousands of pieces, but they will be clean pieces.

May need a bit of tweaking to the algorithms perhaps.

You'd be best off asking them, believe early exit requires a charge. Also set your mileage correctly as that makes a difference and decide if you want it maintained (they'll cover all garage bills down to tyres and wipers for a fee).

If memory serves they have a pretty comprehensive FAQ list on the site.

Some allow you to hand it back, no questions asked, after 50% of the payments have been made.

Read the small print and ask for a contract termination figure.

Not on a lease - that only applies if it's a finance deal (eg. PCP) where you can invoke the right to a voluntary termination.

There you go and what do I know. Always read the small print or pay a lawyer. It will cost, but not as much as getting the wrong deal. Car brokers can be a good idea (they survive on reputation) but check their references.

My Mito 155 in Dynamic mode forth gear pull from twenty to sixty miles per hour.

Civicboy caught up with me because I slowed for the forty zone ahead and he didn't. Meh.

Last week, I bought a new code reader from Amazon. An Autech JP700. Mostly bought because it can read and clear codes from JDM cars.

First was to diagnose a running issue with our Toyota Alphard campervan - it has always had a bit of a stutter from cold when running on petrol which cleared up on LPG. (LPG runs its own ECU). Read the code - fuel trim too rich on bank 1.

Oxygen sensor and new MAF ordered and fitted today - smooth as a knife through butter now, as it should be.

So, I then plugged it into the Boxster and found it also has a Porsche mode. I've diagnosed another oxygen sensor issue, but also found out why the torque converter has been playing up - the clutch solenoid returns an 'open circuit' error.

This news means I can probably chuck it at a ZF gearbox specialist (it's a ZF 5HP19) rather than a Porsche specialist to have it fixed and serviced, saving me a small fortune!

Not plugged the reader in a Fiat yet, but will do next time I have the Seicento at home.

Mrs Jock and I have spent the last couple of weeks with our daughter and her family down near Salisbury. I went into the card shop in Salisbury, right next to where "that bench" used to be - no sign of it now - where the poisoned people were found, to buy an Easter card. Mrs J had wandered off to Debenhams to spend her vouchers just in case they went belly up and she had the English currency with her. My Scottish bank note was refused. I just had to smile as that used to be the standard reaction back in the '60's and '70's when I was at college in London. I asked why (I'm pretty sure they can't actually refuse it as it is coin of the realm but I wasn't going to create a fuss). The answer was I thought very reasonable, "because there are so many different Scottish notes, (you may know all the banks issue their own notes in Scotland) and we don't see them that often, We can't be sure they are not fakes". Fair enough, I don't blame them. Did mean I spent around a half hour trying to track down Mrs J in Debenhams for some loose change as I only had 15p in coin.

Saw one of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEW..

The headlight beam pattern was awful..

Mustve been all those 'angle.poise' lamps it had absorbed.. ;)

Brother in Law has one. He worked out it does the overall equivalent of 46mpg. Not too bad for a big barge I suppose. Next door to me has 1 too. Amuses me it sounds like the Tardis arriving. He tells me it will do 80mph on elctric alone and will do about 20 miles on electricity. I still not totally convinced though they are expensive.
