a new member in the punto area claiming his unmodified 1.2 8v punto has done 120mph, this really has made my day, not laughed that hard in a long time

I managed that in my first car which was a 1.2 8v. It was however a speedo 120mph which in reality is probably 100-110mph and slightly down hill on a long straight with the wind behind me .

4 days of linux fails and Windows achieved it in a few hours!

Not sure if this is a happy or sad post really

Either way I finally have some decent storage at home again

By the reckoning of some forum members we are all complete idiots for not getting winter tyres and at the first sign of frost / snow / cold wet roads we'd all end up in ditches / hedges. How many of us did that actually happen to

Same, but I've gone 17 years without incident. Having said that, if I could comfortably spare the money to buy and fit winter tyres, I would, just so I'd know I'd done all I could to avoid an accident. As it stands at the moment, I cannot justify the cost of winter tyres, so if conditions are particularly bad I make the call not to drive.
TBH I see them as a useful luxury item - not a neccessity

ive only survived 4 winters without incident.

but my opinion of winter tyres is that, Just becasue you have them and can stop properly, doesnt mean that the driver behind you, or coming towards you does..

for them to work properly every driver on the road needs them. no point 1 in 1000 drivers

31.78MPG in a 13 year old petrol car
This is just my daily commute to work and not really being super gentle on the right foot.

£55 got me 285 miles so far, rekon I could squeeze another 10-15 miles.

Got 38mpg on a trip to coventry and back!

Funny you should say that it was over tea and a bacon sarnie he told me.

Bloke at work started talking to someone with Down syndrome, which I thought was nice, asking how he was and all that...then just says 'my brother is one of you'. God knows how I didn't stop myself laughing at the way he worded it. He didn't mean it in a horrible way, just a bit stupid I think! The look the guys mum gave him was priceless!
