Recently (at least in Nottingham) there has been a massive number of people driving around with one or more St. Georges flag on their car. Previously I have felt this verging on the edge of racism (don't blame me for such a feeling, blame the NF for hijacking our national flag and pride, turning patriotism into racism). However, I wonder if this year it could be different, can we finally win the flag back for our nation so no longer it is related to racist thugs but the average man proud to be English?

I have one> and this Saxo which makes it his mission to (try to) over take me EVERY morning on the way into town has one too. There are loadsa around at the mo. they're dirt cheap, you get them from Halfrauds

i seen loads off them in stoke on sunday, i thought that it had something to do with a local lad who died a few days before.

i was wrong, its most probably got something to do with Euro 2004

Oh the old car you see daily? I see a black Corsa (53 reg) with tinted windows and permament fogs and sidelights on (be it 8:30am or 3:45pm) - can't believe I saw him twice today in the opposite directions, he knows me too because i always flash him for having his fogs on and now he nods his head lol.

Gaz; they started on St. Geroges, maybe 1/50 cars maximum, then a few days after it grew and now maybe 1 in 20 has one or more (obviously i am just totally guessing at the numbers!).

I just hope we can win it back from the NF and that this IS about football and not anything else. I don't have anything wrong with patriotism, just in my head, the NF turned patriotism into racism some time ago. You don't have a problem with showing the Welsh flag, i feel it is unfair that it is so related to the national front in this country.

Round here the national pride is huge and lots of people display the england flag and england sports clothing to remind the scots they are now in ing-er-land when they get here. No racism intended as far as I'm aware (except for the usual few troublemakers).
