my mam gets a hire car today as her fiat goes in for a dodgey duel logic box, it's a manual so i get the job of driving as she can't, my dad gets my car and she gets the audi :D

hope it's something decent, or an alfa lol they're next door :D

I hate to burst your bubble but its more likely to be a vauxhall corsa :yuck: if its a hire car. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, just in case.(y)

Oh believe me there are worse cars than corsa's!. I took my Fiat in for a warranty job and got a friggin Hyundai Amika!. What was worse is I had to do 60miles that day on the motorway. To my dismay I ended up having to do 120miles round trip to work because some inconsiderate c**t decided to crash there BMW into a lorry! :bang: as a result the whole of the A1 was closed in between Leeming and Catterick :(.

Thats the culprit ^^.

Shocking thing is it cost me more to fuel that thing for 120miles than it would of to use my Alfa 156 2.0TS!.

Careful about the insurance, as it's not being lent to you I would question whether you are covered on your insurance...?

I'm sure AlexR will have the insurance side WELL taken care of!! :D (y)

I had a Punto hire car in Spain a while back. I went out to see a few supermarkets and had to follow my customer in it, who drives a Mercedes
E400 CDI. Poor little fiat, I absolutely ragged the nuts off of the thing to keep up with the Merc.

Mind you killing it would have been a kindness, horrible car, the only thing it's fit for is donating engines to fit in a Cinq.

they were awfully good to me lol, a GP punto with 23 miles on the clock :D

here's a quick review, very comfortable compared to my punto (maybe because i'd just driven the RS though)

decent spec, CD player, electric mirrors, decent seats/interior.

very sloooooww (1.2 8v) must be all the extra weight because mines a good couple of seconds quicker to 60.

MPG poor at 27

at least a hyundai amica isn't a million miles from a punto.

worst we've had, was for the entire time the A6 (audi) was being sorted, then returned, sorted, then returned, then eventually replaced (twas new but damaged). anyway, for 10-12weeks we had as a 'temporary replacement vehicle' a sodding 1.0 3cyl seat arosa as a replacement for a A6 3.0 quattro avant :bang:
just plain sucks, ended up getting a weasy 1.8 mondeo (newer one) from work.

Friend of mine got a Vauxhall Agila as a courtesy car, trouble was he had to go from Birmingam to Carlisle and back that day. He looked terrified whaen he got back.:p

The 1.2 GP is a bit on the slow side but once you get them wound up they are OK. I've had them as loan cars and the first one i drove i thought was broken it really seemed that slow
it needs a much bigger petrol engine or a diesel really and none of the models get anywhere near to FIATs claimed economy figures. My MJ 90 is a hoot once you've found out how to drive around the biblically bad turbo lag

Worst car i've ever had as a loan car was many years ago when I had a Croma Turbo ie, it went in for a slipping clutch fixing. The dealer also sold Yogo's so I got a yogo 45 for 3 days. it didn't even have a radio so I just put my walkman on loud and just drove it with my foot welded to the floor. After the first day found out that you only needed the clutch to set off and stop every other gear change could be done without using it.

I doubt anyone has ever had such a naff loaner

yup, the 1.2 8v GP seems to be their most popular selling engine in the UK, but its dire.
it was barely enough in the mk1, the mk2 NEEDED the 16v to make it as quick, the GP NEEDS the 1.4 to make it even think about moving its overweight ass
or the dieselsporting :)

which brings me to my point, what IS The point in buying an 8v mk3 GP? it will barely do 30mpg to get me around as quick (LOFL) as I want to, when a turbo car WILL get me there as quick, provide some fun, and still manage 40mpg.
crazy backwards waste of time or is it just me:confused:
