Yup, he forgot to screw the new filter on, thus 2.5 ltrs of fully synthetic pumped out of the hole where the filter should have been.

Ouch, kinda done that before but it was the sump plug I never replaced, wondered what the splashing noise was when I was refilling!!

High mileage HDi 90. Old oil was very,very black.

Almost reminds me of the time it took the local ford dealers 4 times to get the new sump they tried to fit on my old Fiesta Classic Oil tight i was VERY p!$$ed off by that point at least it had 4 flushes of fresh oil in 2 days

I don't know how they do it. I spent the past day or so changing an engine on a 07 sedona diesel auto. No mess. not even on me, the apprentice, oil and filter, **** every where, how, why?
