A linguistic query - what is "helical gear constant"? auto gearbox

The sentence is from a description of automatic gearbox dismantling.

"Remove taper roller bearing, counting disk and helical gear constant."

The picture only shows a toothed wheel. I am at my wits end
Any help is appreciated, thanx.

This is how it looks - item 02.200. It may be it is only a typo and it is supposed to be "constant helical gear" or maybe "constant velocity helical gear"

Its constant mesh, there is never a situation where all the load transfers at the same time form one tooth to another. Its useful in high stess applications like automotive transmissions.

Re: A linguistic query - what is "helical gear constant"?

In the picture, the gear labelled 02.200 is a helical gear. It's helically cut, that means the teeth are at an angle compared with a straight cut gear. As for "helical gear constant", I'm not sure but I think Renegade_8 must be right in that it means it's in constant mesh with something. It's not clear from the picture what it meshes with though, but one can assume there is another set of gears that it will mesh with.

Re: A linguistic query - what is "helical gear constant"?

What part of the gearbox is it off?

The differential sun gear and its driver and a fair few of the gears in a gearbox are usually constant mesh, usually for noise reasons.

But the helical gear part is 02.200.....if it were constant velocity then why would it have a counter disc - its velocity, being constant is already known!

Re: A linguistic query - what is "helical gear constant"?

I sent a query to the manufacturer. I am inclined to believe that the meaning is "constant mesh helical gear".
Thank you all, you are great

Re: A linguistic query - what is "helical gear constant"?

Its a straightforward helical (or skew-cut) gearwheel. The description has been lost in translation. My guess is that the passage has at some time been translated from another langauge into english and the term "helical gear constant" was the nearest english description that matched. I see it all the time in tech-manuals, it was probably german, they like to put 3 or 4 partial descriptions together to make 1 word.
