Was it "National be an idiot on the road day" ?

hi guys :)

Well, have done a good 40 miles today through the city and the country. SO many times people got me so pissed off.

Lovely weather so I guess more people on the road but come on, was it just me or did EVERYONE face a massive increase in idiots on the road today? (Significant number of exampls available on request!)

Paul

You could say - ended up racing a sporty Peugeot [I think 607 or something, newish, and had turbo coz heard it!] who cut me up on a big roundabout near us!!!
I gave chase, as you do - 175bhp comes in useful on a big car, I think he was surprised I kept up - slamming on brakes at a mini roundabout whilst a bus went round it put stop to it - he squeezed through, I had enough! Went to Tescos Extra for milk and bread instead.

In answer to your question, Paul, yes, probably two of us with hindsight.

Stu

PS reason he cut me up was because he thought he could outdrag me off the lights entering roundabout to begin with, he couldn't coz I booted it, so he still came across me, inches to spare! I was in right lane for exit, he damn well knew he wasn't. Game on!

Fiat Ulysse 2.2JTD Eleganza, 53 plate, with options :D Angel tuned ;) Photos and avatar still to be sorted - there is always tomorrow

God Yeah!!! Just got back from taking my friend back to sheffield Uni - and I went Via "the snakepass" which for those who dont know, is a country road that is well known for the number of accidents. A right arrogant Bast**d in a VW GOLF drove practically up my backside and stayed there for ages tried to overtake me and a mondeo (in front of me)on a corner!! car came the other way and he cut me up then did the same to the mondeo!

Heh, I'm at Shef Uni, I love the snake pass! But I'm probably in the category of "Basr**d" when I drive on that road :p, can't resist caning it!
But seriously, what is it with Golf drivers??? [xx(]

Oh yes. Evil person in Punto cut me up in Carlisle (would have had his shiny car smashed if it weren't a Fiat). Overtook a Subaru Impreza in my 1.2 Brava (yes, really) which was doing such a leisurely pace I was in 4th gear at the time. Chav in a red Fiesta with fluorescent green bits tried to overatke me while I was already doing 32ish in a 30 zone (duh): I employed left foot braking intermittantly for about a mile to keep him off my backside. Got stuck behind 'old man in cap' on the way home, again with a powerful car (big Vectra) but no idea how to use it and no space to overtake so went at 40 all the way home along a 60 limit road. Got home in one piece :D

[:(!][V][xx(].

Go on Paul, you know you want to tell :D

Me too, three Golf drivers involved in todays madness! grrr! Along with a Ferrari which was literally milimetres away from being bent around a Fiesta which shocked me into making my heart skip a beat. About 8 problems spending 60 seconds in a supermarket carpark. I could go on to write our explanations of everything that I hated about driving today but I literally would be writing for the next 30 minutes flat out.

Ok, due to overwhelming demand from Helz, my 60 odd seconds in a Sainsbury's carpark.

Went in, firstly annoyed because I was going to go on a roundabout when the guy who wasn't indicating decided to keep going, had to stop suddenly and he gave me the finger for his mistake (he was doing a right turn and didn't indicate the whole time!). Ok, pulled in, when down the straight part, easy, went to pull into a parking place and the idiot in the galaxy was right on the line so it was a bit tight but hey, i didn't need the passenger door and it was his fault! Pulled in, checked money, no money, oh well, start engine pulling out, woman in BMW cabriolet, I stop when I see her (galaxy in way at the start of course) and take it out of reverse to signal my intent. She then sits there for about 15 seconds with me twisting my neck back at her waiting for a sign, refusing to pull out incase she then does the same. FInally she tells me to go so I do. Try to take the next right turn which is hatched yellow (I guess for emergency vehicles) but parked right on the right side of it is a Saxo with 28" odd wheels and Lexus lights. Can't go on the inside or outside so have to wait a while for the chaz to come back. He screams off and I slowly follow down the road nearest to the shop with a number of junctions every so often (the road I am has right of way and the others are just like feeding roads). Going along about 5mph and then guess what....yup, a woman in a 406 estate drives out 3 metres infront of me without even looking if somebody is coming. If this wasn't bad enough, she then stops and somebody opens the passenger door and climbs out. That person then spends the next 10 seconds talking until having all of this aggression in me plus the events of earlier driving, I press the horn for about 5 seconds until again I get the finger from the passenger and then they shut the door. Then guess what, a car from the left just pulls out from one of the parking places before the 406 gets going so i am stuck again whilst the idiot reverses out of a parking place. I decided to take the right (the road from which the 406 came from) and guess what, a 30 year old lady (you know the type, obviously clever, pretty and doing well for herself, wearing a nice suite) pushing her trolly down the middle of the lane ignoring me. So again I pipped at her, but she didn't move, she looked back but kept me behind her until I got to her car at which point she moved to it giving me a funny look. Just starting to accelerate when somebody else reverses out of a parking place 2 metres infront of me without looking. I try to carry on, giving no sign of letting them go etc. and they keep coming, ignoring the fact I am there.

Finally get to the end of this short section of road, turn left, go back the roundabout and guess what, another non-indicating right turner, this time with fogs and sidelights on when I am wearing my sun glasses it is so bright. Rest of the journey was ok, only about 5 mins home.

Apart from that, my day went something like:

Over taken on a blind hill having to brake when a car comes over the peak just letting the guy get in. (twice on same hill in different directions!)

Golf a few millimetres from my ass for about one mile until I decide to pull in to let the guy go (doing 40 in a 40 zone).

Sat at one of the most difficult junctions in Nottinghamshire (widely accepted as one of the most dangerous) waiting for a gap, 3 odd cars back a Ferrari gets bored of waiting so goes on the right side of the road and floors it, as a Fiesta was coming, fiesta's front was millimetres from the Ferrari's side/rear whilst the Fiesta did an emergency stop. Ferrari continued off and when at some absurd speed.

A guy in a Discovery (if that is the smallest of the Landrovers?) was sat on my ass on a 40 speed limit (hucknall bypass) road for the whole length (there are 3 seconds, this section is 40, the others 60, so it annoys people) Anyway, he had no right to do this to me so took the roundabout quickly, got infront of him, floored it up to 60 and then guess who decides to still overtake, yup, but my speed had made it difficult and there was little more than 2 car lengths between me and the car infront. The discovery had to go past me and get in between me and the car infront before a central resevation. However, those are for sissys right, so yes, he just went on the right side of a large central resevation (meant for about 15 school children in terms of size!).

Suburu being an idiot on one road, doing 30 in a 60 zone so when it is safe I overtake, of course that meant the guy was pissed off, went up to some stupid speed which my car wouldn't even do and re-overtook me, then again, went down to 25mph in a 60 zone to "punish me" I guess, until he went through a 30mph limit village and sped off at some stupid speed.

Going through the aforementioned village, temporary traffic lights whilst repairing the water system there (it often floods!). Pull up and red, no cars coming through. Turns green, start to pull off and a car is coming in the other direction. No choice but to sit there whilst this guy goes past. Followed by not 1, 2 or 3 cars, but 4 cars within about 30 seconds who all prevented me from going even though it was green for me. Accepted maybe the traffic lights might have been broken but when i finally got through, they were red on that side, make your own assumptions.

Oh and the number of motorcyclists on the road today doing stupid speeds on B-roads (100mph plus I estimate?) and overtaking despite me being there resulting in my hard braking (well, ok, it only happened once)

Ok, enough? There's probably more but my fingers are tired and Ic can't rant any more!

I think that Subaru you went to overtake was the same Subaru as I passed this morning - I probably upset him/ her so much they looked you out to get revenge (in some kind of twisted way they just knew). Also I have learned my lesson about speeding on country roads after nearly squashing a cyclist a few weeks ago :I.

The worst thing is when you blast round a corner and have to slam on the brakes for horses, which nearly puts you in the hedge rows because the brakes are buggered and apply on different wheels at different times :I..........................Yer my Cinq is safe[8D]
